Jackman plays Jean Valjean in Tom Hooper’s upcoming movie adaptation, and tweeted the image of himself in character on Tuesday. That’s a pretty good beard, if real. I like your beard, Hugh. Your beard is good.
“Very excited about how the first days of filming are going!! Check out my convict look…but its changing soon.”
Paparazzi snaps of Jackman and Crowe in character have hit the ‘net in recent days, and Crowe has been tweeting from the set as well.
This isn’t the only look Jackman will sport for his role as the film’s protaganist. Tragic hero Jean Valjean also spends parts of the book as a mayor, a factory owner, and a protective father to another character, Cosette. The pic above is from Valjean’s convict on-the-run phase.
Les Misérables is set to release later this year, on December 14. As well as Crowe and Jackman, the film also stars Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette and Sacha Baron Cohen as Thenardier. In January, it was announced that country star Taylor Swift had dropped out of the cast, and would be replaced by Samantha Barks.
The film tells the story of Jean Valjean, a former prisoner who becomes mayor of a town in France. Valjean agrees to take care of Cosette, the illegitimate daughter of Fantine, and must avoid being captured again by Javert (Crowe), a police inspector.
