During an interview with TODAY show co-anchor Craig Melvin that aired on Friday, President Joe Biden blamed his predecessor, Donald Trump, for the current crisis at the border, NBC News reported.

According to Biden, his administration inherited a "god-awful mess at the border” from Trump that stemmed from a lack of a proper transition.

The head of state claimed that Trump's outgoing administration did not give him any connections to the immigration and the Defense Department.

Biden Still Denies There Is A Crisis At The Border

Despite reports of an overload of migrant children and a lack of space to house them, Biden denies there is a crisis at the border.

The head of state also claimed to be struggling to reunite families separated by Trump.

"We're trying like hell to figure out what happened. What happened to that child when he got separated? Where’d they go? Where are they?”

As The Inquisitr reported, Biden has faced criticism for handling the border using largely similar methods to the Trump administration, which received a great deal of criticism for its tactics.

Biden Claimed That He Has 'Control' Of The Border

Despite the scrutiny of his handling of the border, Biden insists that his administration has a solid grasp of the situation, The Hill reported.

“It’s way down now; we’ve now gotten control,” he said.

Still, when pressed on the record number of unaccompanied children coming to the United States, Biden again placed the blame on Trump and his administration's purportedly botched transition.

"They didn’t plan for, which comes every year, this flow, whether it's 22,000 or 10,000,” “They didn’t have the beds that were available, they didn’t plan for the overflow."

Biden Is Accused Of Paving The Way For Migration Spikes

According to Breitbart, Biden's immigration policy is paving the way for spikes in government-run migration that will far exceed the standard inflow legal immigration — approximately 1 million.

The publication underlined that federal enforcement agencies have "been largely barred from deporting migrants." Breitbart underlined that this means migrants who make their way across the U.S. border are eligible for wage jobs throughout America.

The outlet noted that Biden's approach to immigration has received support from business groups and investors.

The publication also claimed that Trump's border approach was more conducive to increased American wages.

Border Apprehensions Were Increasing As Biden Took Power

As noted by MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol data show that apprehensions at the southern U.S. border were increasing as Biden took power in the White House.

Per The Wrap, Republicans like Dan Crenshaw have falsely claimed that Biden inherited decreasing numbers.

During an interview with Hasan, Crenshaw suggested that Biden's "open border" policy has lead to a spike.

“It cannot be an open border if 72 percent of people are removed,” Hasan responded, referring to the CBP data.

“That’s nonsensical to claim that. You know that. I know that.”
