Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill have had to go through some challenging moments both career-wise and social-wise, and most recently, the latter has found himself in legal trouble. This is after Meek Mill allegedly submitted a fake urine drug test sample to the authorities.
According to The Source, Meek Mill went to court last week to deal with a parole violation. This was following his appearance at the American Music Awards, an event which was held in Los Angeles last month.
"According to legal docs, during a drug test Meek handed the lab tech a specimen that turned out to be cold water. Meek allegedly told the tech it looked that way because he had just consumed a lot of water, adding he was a bodybuilder and drank protein shakes that make his pee appear that way."According to NY Daily News, Nicki Minaj also testified and defended her boyfriend saying she would use her influence over him to make sure that he avoids any more parole infractions. Nicki Minaj highlighted that they had a close relationship and were seriously contemplating marriage, adding that she had more power over Meek Mill than his parole officer saying, "She's not going to be the one sleeping alone if he goes to jail. I am. He's not perfect, but I can't believe how much he's changed."
Judge Genece Brinkley, who was acting on the case was, however, not convinced and threatened to throw Meek Mill, whose real name is Robert Williams in jail once proceedings commence on Dec 17.
Frank DeSimone, Meek Mill's defense lawyer claimed that the root cause of his woes was the music business, which he described as chaotic. The following was Nicki's statement in regards to this.
"He doesn't have a lot of structure. He can be irresponsible," said Minaj, who was sworn in under her birth name, Onika Maraj. "Since I've come in his life, I think I've been working on that a little bit.... He's just getting accustomed to being an adult."
"He told me last evening how he respects you," DeSimone said. "He wouldn't be who he is if you sent him to the state penitentiary in 2009. He wouldn't be Meek Mill."According to a source who spoke to TMZ, the rapper believes that the system is out to get him and throw him in jail, and feels the D.A harbors a grudge against him. Last year, he posted a tweet to this effect saying, "The D.A. on my case is a racist. I caught that case when I was 18, she's still bothering me."
However, his case is not looking good as the tech testified on Thursday that Meek Mill had tried to cheat by handing her a fake urine sample.
