Go ahead, read the title again, make sure you have it right. A Berlin social network site wants to hire someone to test out brothels. Kaufmich.com, is a social media website for sex workers -- its name means "buy me" or "purchase me," in German -- that seeks a full-time prostitute tester to make sure the businesses are on the up and up. No, this isn't a joke.
Talk about a unique job!
According to CNBC, sex is part of the job, but there is a lot more to it. The person hired for the job will have to have intercourse with a variety of prostitutes. However, he will also have to report on the cleanliness, the services, and the safe sex practices within each brothel. The tester's job is to report on the brothel and rate the sex workers.
CNBC spoke with the website's product manager, Ben, who chose not to give out his surname.
"Having a brothel in Germany is totally legal but so far there is not a quality system for them in place. We want to be the Tripadvisor for brothels. Clients on Kaufmich should be able to check the quality of brothels before there go -- like you check your hotel online before you book."There are some requirements for the job. Huffington Post reports that applicants must have a degree, preferably in business, and know the ins and outs of brothels (meaning they have "several years of brothel visits.") Knowing German is a plus, as well as as being fluent in French.
As expected, applicants must have a clean, well-kept appearance and present a health certificate. Being a people person is another requirement for the job.
"You should enjoy having fun with people and you should not be afraid of contact."One can't be afraid to get too close when testing out prostitutes. There are currently about 150 applicants, most stemming from Germany. However, some applicants live as far away as the U.K. The tester will have to live and work in Berlin at first, with a possibility of testing brothels throughout Germany.
Kaufmich was created by three brothers wanting to provide a free market for independent sex workers. The social media website is a community where prostitutes can gather to discuss issues such as taxation and finding their next client. Julius Dreyer, one of the three brothers said, "Our vision is to see sex work as an equal and fully accepted part of society. We believe that all kinds of problems arise from sex workers being isolated and judged."
Do you think you have what it takes to be a certified brothel and prostitute tester?
