Jalen Hurts and company struggled in the first half but managed to rally and get a close, hard-fought win. Then, in the end, HC Nick Sirianni, evidently emotional, was spotted yelling at some Eagles fans.
Sirianni Shuts Out Frank Reich
When asked about what he said, Sirianni admitted that he wanted to get the win to honor Frank Reich, who left his job as the Eagles' OC to become the Colts' HC for the past four seasons before being let go:
"That sh*t was for Frank Reich," Sirianni said.
He Was Emotional
Sirianni and Reich go a long way back. He was his QB coach with the then-San Diego Chargers and then his OC in the first three years with the Colts:
I'm emotional because I love Frank Reich. I really do, Sirianni said. He's one of the best damn football coaches I've ever been around. I was hoping that he and I would be able to coach against each other this game. He is one of my biggest mentors.
He Took A Shot At The Colts
The Colts fired Reich mid-season and replaced him with team legend Jeff Saturday, a controversial move considering he had zero professional experience:
You don't want to know what I think of if he should be here or not, but you guys can probably imagine what I really think, Reich added. It was sweet to come here, especially with what happened with this organization the last couple weeks, and get the win. The win. We're leaving Indianapolis with a win!
Sirianni Is Making An Impact
Sirianni is an emotional coach, and he clearly knows how to get to his players. According to RB Miles Sanders, that's one of the main reasons why the Eagles have bought into his plan so easily and smoothly:
He came here and changed the culture for us, and we're out here winning like crazy, Sanders said. We've got a good chemistry here because of him. I've got a lot of respect for Coach. I don't know if he knows that, but I hope he hears it.
The Eagles are sitting at an impressive 9-1 record, the best in the league. So, it's nice to see that they're still finding motivation to compete at the highest level every week out there.
