Has One Direction finally made the earth-shaking announcement that it is time to cool their jets and stop touring? Despite rumors that this is the big moment that One Direction takes a break in 2016, One Direction fans are in denial… again.
One Twitter One Direction fan posted on August 23, “[U]ntil they tweet it themselves I won’t believe anything. I have heard this rumor for a while now…so there is no telling!”
Another One Direction fan writes in response to the alleged breakup, “I love
#OneDirection a lot. Have been a huge fan since 2011. I’m not in denial but, I don’t fully believe they are splitting just yet.”
But are allegations that One Direction are taking a break in 2016 true in any way? As previously reported by the Inquisitr, One Direction’s opening act, Icona Pop, made an announcement in Swedish around the end of June that this might be 1D’s “last tour.”
Looking back at the timeline of events, it is now clear that Louis Tomlinson may have been aware at the end of June that his friend Briana Jungwirth was potentially pregnant with his baby, if Hollywood Life‘s research is airtight.
Could Louis’ baby have been the reason that One Direction decided in late June that their On The Road Again tour was a good time to temporarily throw in the towel? The rumors from late June were never fully answered, but two months later, insiders are speaking up about the fact that One Direction may not tour for their fifth album.
The Mirror quotes the following from a print-only edition of The Sun on August 23.
“[One Direction] who have been together for five years, decided not to tour their latest record during a top secret meeting in London last weekend and Directioners across the globe will no doubt be devastated when they hear the news.”
They go on to quote an insider that told The Sun, “The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boy band. They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100-percent behind the decision.”
What is important to emphasize is that in no part of the rumor did anyone say that One Direction is officially splitting up forever. If the rumors are true, one of One Direction’s last concerts for awhile will be their sold-out show in Sheffield, U.K. on October 31.
Does this mean that One Direction fans should believe these new insider sources? The Telegraph adds to the story about One Direction potentially taking a hiatus in 2016 by stating, “A spokesman for the band said: ‘We don’t comment on speculation.’”
In other words, One Direction fans can breathe a sigh of relief because at this point, these may very well just be another round of One Direction breakup rumors after all.
