Liverpool fans can watch a live stream of their team going for a ninth Capital One Cup trophy Sunday, as the Reds face Manchester City at Wembley in the final of the competition, also known as the League Cup — a competition that could redeem what has been a difficult season at Anfield, with the team languishing in ninth place in the Barclays Premier League and enduring a managerial change in October.
That’s when former Borussia Dortmund Manager Jurgen Klopp took the reigns from the sacked Brendan Rodgers, and has led the team into the Capital One Cup final with a realistic chance to take home the first Liverpool silverware in four years — when the team last won the League Cup, which at that time was known as the Carling Cup.
The upbeat Klopp described himself as “greedy” to win another trophy for Liverpool, in an interview with the Liverpool Echo newspaper this week.
“I am long enough in the business to know I am greedy for success,” Klopp said. “For sure we will go to the final and try and achieve this. It is more important for the club, the crowd and the players. Lots of managers work their whole life and never get the chance to win trophies. After a short time we have that chance.”

So who’s going to win the 2016 Capital One Cup Final? If recent history is any indication, Liverpool has the advantage, after thrashing Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on November 21, by a 4-1 score. In the last seven matches between the two clubs, Liverpool has prevailed three times, Manchester City twice, with two games drawn.
Liverpool will be appearing in their 12th Capital One or League Cup Final, a record for any club in the history of the tournament. Manchester City have only four appearances, and only one since 1976. But they won that one, 3-1 over Sunderland in 2014.

All of the eight Liverpool trophies in the League Cup competition have come since 1978, when they won the Cup for the first time. Winning the Cup carries the additional prize of automatic qualification for Europe in the following season, in this case the UEFA Europa League. But prior to that incentive being tacked on, Liverpool often did not even bother to compete in the League Cup tournament.
