Lil Wayne has been battling Birdman over the past year and just announced his Dedication tour for 2016, but few headlines pay attention to the fact that Lil Wayne puts his children and family first in his heart. Thankfully, Lil Wayne takes time to remind social media of how much his children mean to him during the holiday season.
Speaking of family, the first of December is also the one-year anniversary of Lil Wayne sending his first tweet signaling the end of his relationship with his “father,” Birdman, and Cash Money Records. Was Lil Wayne posting pics of his kids on social media to remind Birdman of the relationships he might be missing?
A year ago, on December 4, 2014, Lil Wayne tweeted, “To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won’t and hasn’t been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it.”
This past year has been a struggle, but Rick Ross took time near the one-year anniversary of Lil Wayne breaking up with his “father,” Birdman, to remind the world that Lil Wayne might be a superstar rapper, but it does not mean people are not cruel to Lil Wayne.
In particular, Rick Ross took a stand and stated openly that he did not appreciate the way Birdman deals with his “son,” Lil Wayne. On December 3, Rick Ross told the Breakfast Club the following when it comes to how Birdman is treating Lil Wayne.
“For me to see the way things are transpiring I can’t respect that. And I don’t respect that.”
Lil Wayne’s negative involvement with Birdman and Cash Money will likely continue until the situation is finally taken to court. According to Pitchfork, the anniversary for Lil Wayne’s $51 million lawsuit against Birdman is January 28.
Meanwhile, it is difficult to ignore that the Atlanta tour bus shooting in April that affected Lil Wayne directly may have had involvement by Birdman (who is also the godfather of Lil Wayne’s children).
The Daily Mail reported on July 16, “An indictment for the man who allegedly shot at Lil Wayne’s tour bus has claimed he called rival rappers Birdman and Young Thug immediately before and after the attack.”
Currently, no charges have been filed against Birdman for allegedly being involved with an attempt on Lil Wayne’s life, but Jimmy Winfrey has been prosecuted and will serve 10 years, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
In the meantime, Lil Wayne is recovering from elbow surgery, according to a November 18 Billboard report. Unlike posts of the past that show Lil Wayne skateboarding or promoting music events, his posts around Thanksgiving are all about family.
In the past, Lil Wayne (like many celebrities) has not always placed a lot of importance on displaying pictures of him with his children on social media. Thankfully, for fans curious about Lil Wayne’s friends/family life, he has posted a multitude of pics on Instagram.
Buying a car for his daughter for her birthday is becoming a Carter family tradition, and People noted last year that Lil Wayne bought Reginae two cars for her Sweet 16. On her sixteenth birthday, Lil Wayne tweeted a picture of her with the following caption.
“Happy birthday to my angel, my princess, my pride and joy Reginae Carter! 16 years of being a reminder of how beautiful life can truly be.”
Around December 5, Lil Wayne posted a picture of his daughter Reginae with a third car for her seventeenth birthday (on November 28). Following this, Lil Wayne posted a picture of two elementary school-aged children (likely, they are two of Lil Wayne’s three sons: Dwayne III, Cameron, or Neal) and captioned it with “double trouble.” Another picture of the same adorable child in a Nirvana t-shirt and his daughter Reginae is captioned with “My Munchkin and Meatball I love y’all! Bday ballin!”
But what do Lil Wayne’s kids think of him? In mid-October, Lil Wayne posted a picture on social media of a statue (that his kids obviously got for him) that said “Best Father Award goes to Dwayne M. Carter Jr.”
