Nude photos get elementary teacher's aide Kaitlin Pearson fired or, ahem, "suspended." (We can all recognize a sinking ship when we see it...)
In a related report from The Inquisitr, a teacher was recently fired for moonlighting as a bikini model.
Kaitlin "Kaity" Pearson was a 23-year-old teacher's aide in special education at South Street Elementary School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. That is, until it was discovered by Fitchburg school superintendent Andre R. Ravenelle that Ms. Pearson is a model on the side. Oddly enough, someone seems to have it out for Kaitlin Pearson, as she was found out by the appearance of an anonymous package delivered to the superintendent's office.
Kaitlin Pearson's work can be found on her Facebook, ModelsMania Magazine, and other publications. The majority of her nude photos are described as "elegant implied nudes," where hands are seen covering nipples and genital areas. So, really, not even that nude at all. Superintendent Ravenelle released the following statement:
"On Friday, January 17, 2014, the Fitchburg Public Schools received an anonymous envelope. It contained modeling screenshots of an individual who is employed as a paraprofessional at South Street Elementary School, and it also contained comments about that individual's employment here. This prompted the opening of an investigation by management, and as is not uncommon at the onset of personnel investigations, the paraprofessional was immediately placed on a paid leave of absence to assure student safety during the investigation and to mitigate potential disruption."The school seemed upset that they didn't find out about Ms. Pearson's modeling gigs before hand, stating they had only run a background and criminal history on her, but posing for "elegant implied nudes" isn't exactly a criminal activity.
Which begs the question - what exactly did she do wrong, and why is modeling getting so many (predominantly female) school professionals in trouble? Mr. Ravenelle insists that "paid administrative leave status, does not constitute a finding of any wrongdoing" followed by the contradictory statement that "since the School Department is obligated to protect the safety of students as well as the rights of its employees, there will be no further comment on this issue."
Kaitlin Pearson has received encouragement and support on her site at modelmayhem.com:
"Hang in their [sic], what you do in your time off that is legal is your business not theirs."Lasting Images Photo
"Good luck….this is a great port. You'll get through this!! I look forward to setting up a shoot soon!!Douglas Scott
Since she has moved out of the area and now says she's in Worcester, it seems she picked her modeling career instead of trying fight "the man" on her teaching aide job. But then again, what choice did she really have?
So what do you think of Kaitlin Pearson's "nude" photos; should school professionals have to choose between a modeling career and working with children?
