Donald Trump, who has often been caught on camera napping, just broke his silence on his many sleepy episodes. Trump was spotted dozing off during a cabinet meeting last month, which he denied. What followed was a quick reaction, an X post from California Governor Gavin Newsom mocking Trump.
Gavin Newsom, who never skips an opportunity to troll the US President, wrote, sharing the video, “Grandpa Trump finds being President of the United States boring. Good to know.”

For starters, here’s what Trump said during a recent cabinet meeting: “Some people said, he closed his eyes. Look, it got pretty boring. I didn’t sleep. I just closed them because I wanted to get the hell outta here.”
“I love these people. There are a lot of people. It was a little bit on the boring side, but I didn’t sleep.” Trump continued, “I didn’t sleep, by the way. I don’t sleep much.”
Trump went on to blame journalists for clicking him as he blinked and said in his defense, “Some of them got me in a blink. You know when you go like (he demonstrated by shutting his eyes), and they took me at the closed segment of my cycle. They said, ‘he’s sleeping.’”
Speaking of Newsom’s repeated jabs at Trump. He shared a clip of Trump appearing to fall asleep at the Oval Office and wrote on X, “DOZY DON IS BACK! TOO MUCH TYLENOL??” In a separate post, Newsom referred to Trump as “The Nodfather.”

Keeping up with Newsom and his many jabs at Trump and his viral sleeping videos, Gavin Newsom wrote in one of his posts, “Wow! President Trump is a titan of wellness; his stamina is unmatched! Our commander-in-chief only needs a tiny nap to power through a full meeting. Get this man into the Olympics ASAP!”
Trump has been pictured sleeping in the Oval Office multiple times. Interestingly, Trump has, time and again, claimed that he doesn’t sleep much. When he hosted Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House last year, Trump said, “He does not sleep much, and I don’t sleep much. I think we have the same schedules. We’re thinking about our countries… We just had a president who slept more than any president. He broke every record.”
Speaking of the multiple times the President has been caught dozing off, he was caught on camera drifting at the ‘Fostering the Future’ initiative during his wife, Melania’s speech.
Other such instances included King Charles’ 9-minute speech at Windsor Castle as well as a press briefing with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The most controversial of all was when he was caught sleeping at late conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s memorial service last year.
Way before he became the President, Donald Trump bragged about his low-sleep lifestyle. “Don’t sleep any more than you have to. I usually sleep about four hours per night,” he wrote in his 2004 book Think Like a Billionaire.
Trump’s sleep cycle is often a topic of discussion in his inner circle. Attorney General Pam Bondi once said in an interview, “None of us can keep up with him; we always joke. I don’t know how he does it. I mean, none of us know when he sleeps. He’s working all the time, and it’s just constant for him.”
