A Domino’s pizza delivery driver, Angela Nguyen, saved an older Minnesota man’s life with her thoughtfulness and kindness. Nguyen used to deliver pizza to Lee Haase, usually on Saturdays, as he was a regular customer.
However, he stopped placing his usual order, and Nguyen got worried. So she went to his home in Ham Lake, Minnesota, with a pizza. Due to a storm, his house was damaged and unlivable. He had to move to an old rusty trailer.
To Nguyen’s disbelief, she saw that his trailer did not have the right conditions to live in. She told a news outlet, “Living in this trailer with no heat, no sanitation whatsoever — he has no toilet — no water, nothing, is not acceptable to me.”
The Minnesota man told Nguyen that he had lost his son in a tragic accident. Nguyen noted after his son’s death, “Lee has told me that he’s pretty much given up on life.” With his unlivable trailer that was not fit to stay in during the winters, Lee was looking towards a harsh time ahead.

At first, she bought him a heater to make him comfortable, then she did something unimaginable that changed this old man’s life. She went home deeply affected by Lee’s condition and decided to start a GoFundMe to support him.
She wrote, “Lee is confused and does not drive. He gets meals on wheels during the week. He has no stove or refrigerator so I assume he lives on the 1 meal a day during the week and Dominos pizza on weekends. I have started the go fund me account to try to help Lee. It is my hope to get enough to rent him a small studio apartment. He would need a bed and basic necessities such as dishes, silverware and other necessities. Also someone to help him move the few items he has of value. I don’t know Lee to well personally, but what I do know is he’s kind, likes bluegrass music and used to love to fish. If you can help thank you. If not can you please pray? I will help this man with Gods help and yours. Thank you”
He lost his son, then lost his home — all at once. The silence of grief is so dangerous because people suffer invisibly. Angela didn’t just bring him a heater. She told the world: this man matters.

Many people were touched by the story. The community came together and raised $30,000 for the old man in just a month. Moreover, some people showed up with blankets, gift cards, groceries and storage units to help Lee. He thanked the community for the support and said, “It’s hard to explain [how I feel], just pretty awesome.”
This act of kindness restored many people’s faith in the existence of good people and humanity. The news went viral, and netizens chimed in to appreciate the pizza delivery person. One X user wrote, “What an incredible act of kindness! One person really can change everything.”
The second one commented, “This is what humanity looks like. One pizza driver’s kindness literally saved a life and inspired the world. Angela, you’re a real-life hero.” Another one posted, “Bro luckily met with someone who’s got a PhD in generosity plus humanity, and his life changed forever.”
