A father and a daughter appeared on Judge Frank Caprio’s Caught in Providence after a traffic infraction. When the judge spotted the man’s daughter with an eyepatch, he asked her to stand in front of the mic. He asked for her name, and she replied, “Tofume.”
The judge called her name beautiful and quickly got to the case. He showed the video evidence of her father crossing the red traffic light, so she could help decide his fate. She said, “He stopped before it turned red.” After that, she revealed her father had been driving her to the hospital to get the eye surgery.
At first, he asked her to choose between an $85 fine and $35 court fees. Then he asked the father, “How many children are in your family?” he replied, “Three.” Caprio was empathetic and said, “It was somebody else, and you had to make a decision.
This is the world I want to live in. RIP Judge Frank Caprio.

Could you say, “Well, given the fact that he was taking his daughter to the doctor, and there were three kids in the family. That maybe we’ll give him a break and not charge him anything.” Could we do that?” the daughter replied. “Yes,” and the judge dismissed the case.
After the verdict, the judge noted, “Thank you. And I can tell she loves her daddy. Of course she does. Good luck to you. Thank you for helping me.”
