Candace’s plastic surgery at 12 did not turn out as she had hoped for. She was still growing up, and it wasn’t the right time for her to get the surgery. However, her schoolmates bullied her for her flat nose, and she shared that with her mom.

Instead of helping her through her insecurity, her mom agreed to a nose job despite Candace being a minor. Years later, she was still insecure about her nose as the doctor put a mesh inside her nose, leaving her nose with bumps and ridges.

Candace reached out to Botched doctors, Dr. Dubrow and Dr. Nassif, who did not give her false hope but told her they could help her. They had a realistic approach, and Candace agreed with them. She shared her experience and how the insecurity started early on.

In the Botched episode, she is seen saying, “Being 6 years old and making this realization in a way felt like my childhood was taken away from me. I wasn’t that happy little girl anymore. And I started to be afraid to meet new people, stand in front of the class. I don’t ever remember being told I was pretty or beautiful by my mom.” Her nose wasn’t the best, but her mom could have said something positive.

She further added, “Maybe if I heard it more that I was beautiful and that I felt beautiful. Maybe I wouldn’t be the person that I am today, you know, desperately trying to look normal.” Needless to say, she regretted the first surgery and wished her mom had prevented that. When she got married to the love of her life, she did not take photos because of her nose.

The doctors were surprised as her mother allowed the surgery, and added that even in emergency cases, the minimum age was 15. This was a case of medical malpractice to operate on a child.

Now, Candace’s goal was to get her nose fixed and take wedding photos with her husband. That’s exactly what Dr. Dubrow and Dr. Nassif did for her. Dr. Nassif noted that the skin dissection is very challenging because the scar tissue and irregularities inside the nose are very thick thus the nose plastic surgery was quite difficult.

In the end, Candace got her confidence back and dressed up as a bride again. She clicked photos with her husband and her two children. She finally felt joy after seeing an improved look on her face. In addition, her husband claimed she is a changed person now. He said, “As a husband, it makes me really happy to know that she’s finally happy.”
