An Amazon delivery driver was caught on a doorbell camera attempting to steal a package — only to abandon the theft after realizing children inside the home were watching him through the door. He placed it on the ground and took a photo as proof.
After that, he went ahead and picked up the package and turned around towards his vehicle. Little did he know that he was being watched on the doorbell camera as well as by the kids in the house. When he spotted the kids witnessing his crime, he said. “You want it?” and then placed it back as if he was not doing anything wrong.
This is insane. Watch this Amazon driver snap a photo of the package, pick it up to steal it, and then only return it because he realized kids were watching through the door. pic.twitter.com/Nzw2VU5szS

The video of the driver’s attempt to steal the package went viral. One X user commented, “He really tried to play it off after getting caught red-handed by kids.” Another one posted, “This is insane. Watch this Amazon driver snap a photo of the package, pick it up to steal it, and then only return it because he realized kids were watching through the door.”
One user shared a personal experience, “I’ve had an Amazon driver try to do the same to me. Caught them by opening the door as they picked it up and were about to walk away with it. But the box was full of dog food and treats for my dog.”
Many viewers were aware of the tactics, as one noted, “He took a photo so he could scan the bar code and use the pic as proof he delivered the package.” They asked the company to fire the guy, as he may have a pattern of such behavior.
This is not an isolated event, as another person, Matthew Perry’s Amazon delivery driver, grabbed the package just 30 seconds after delivering it. He said it was a $15 Bluetooth device for his car, and he was shocked that the delivery guy took the risk of losing his job over a $15 package. After witnessing the whole thing on a Ring camera, he said, “I was sitting at work, I could not believe what I saw. I was more mad at myself for not being home.”

In other news, an Amazon driver stole a homeowner’s cat while delivering a package. A video of the driver picking up the cat from the porch went viral. Meanwhile, he claimed the cat was his as it matched the description of the cat he had adopted the previous year.
Amazon released a statement saying the driver would no longer be delivering packages with the company. This proves that leaving your package and pets unattended when you’re not at home may no longer be safe.
