Kansas City’s toddler surprised a pizza delivery driver with a hug when he arrived to deliver an order. The driver reached Lindsey Sheeley’s home around 7 p.m. on Gilcrest Drive when her 2-year-old son, Cohen, ran past his mother to embrace him. The heartwarming moment was captured on a doorbell camera, which showed Cohen running up to the delivery driver and hugging him.
The Kansas City child’s mom, Lindsey Sheeley, watched the video and decided to upload it on the internet for everyone to witness. It was a rare occurrence for her son to run up to a stranger to hug, as he had never done that before. She revealed he even tried to kiss the Kansas City pizza deliveryman.
She said, “As Ryan was walking away, my son just bolted past me, ran out the door, and put his arms up and just gave Ryan a big hug. Ryan just leaned into it; it was really cute, really sweet. My son even tried to give him a kiss.”
The Kansas City driver hugged him back and then left. This simple act of kindness from a toddler meant a lot more to him than it did to him. The delivery driver, Ryan Caterson, asked Sheeley if he could post the video on his social media.
She agreed and later on found out that he had lost his 16-year-old daughter, Alyssa, just one week earlier. The Kansas City pizza delivery gig was the only thing that was pushing him to go out of the house.
The hug served as a comforting reminder to the grieving dad. He felt that the hug wasn’t just a coincidence. Instead, the hug seemed like a powerful sign from his daughter. It was one positive thing in his dark moments.
WHDH reported this heartwarming news on February 19, 2020. Even though the video is years old, it resurfaced on the internet, claiming it to be a hug from heaven. The internet found the news to be heartwarming. One Instagram user commented, “His daughter guided that child to that hug.” Another one posted, “For sure, it was her daughter who hugged him through this little boy, used as a love and God instrument.”
One user shared a similar experience and wrote, “I know a story like that, a young child came up and hugged a lady I used to work with. The child who hugged her had the same name as the lady’s son who had died a few years before.” one more added, “Oh my gosh he must have been shocked but in the best way.”
