The Trump administration is reportedly planning to sell some of the expensive purchases Kristi Noem made during her turbulent tenure as the former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary. The Department is also reportedly looking to sell the highly controversial luxury Boeing 737 Max 8. The jet earned the nickname “mile high boudoir” after reports claimed she used the taxpayer-funded aircraft, which has a private bedroom, to travel with her alleged lover, Corey Lewandowski.

During her tenure as DHS chief, Noem oversaw a proposed $38.3 billion expansion plan which included the purchase of large warehouses meant to serve as mega detention centers for the administration’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. These detention centers could hold up to 100,000 migrants at a time.

Now, under new Secretary Markwayne Mullin’s leadership, the DHS is planning to sell a few of these giant warehouses along with several planes meant for deportation purposes, a new report by NBC News reveals.

One of these planes is the widely discussed Boeing 737 Max 8. It drew public scrutiny and online mockery after a February 2026 Wall Street Journal report claimed Noem used the jet to travel with her alleged lover, Lewandowski.

Photographs from the jet revealed that the luxury aircraft came with a queen-sized bed, kitchen, mirrored wardrobe, living area, several large television sets, showers, and a custom red, white, and blue paint job.

The Boeing aircraft quickly became known as the “Mile High Boudoir,” referring to speculations about the alleged affair between Noem and her then-advisor Lewandowski.

The controversy also made its way to a congressional hearing, where Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse showed Noem a photograph of the jet’s bedroom and repeatedly questioned her about whether the aircraft had a private bedroom.

Noem stuttered initially but responded that the room did look like a bedroom, but maintained that she was not familiar with the specific photograph. She also explained that the DHS uses the aircraft as a command-and-control plane for deportation operations. She then added that the aircraft is being refurbished.

Now, social media users flooded the comments amid reports of the new DHS leadership eyeing to sell the controversial plane.

“First thing the new owner will do? Burn the mattress,” wrote one user, according to the Atlanta Black Star.

Another person’s comment read, “The aircraft should be thoroughly sprayed and cleaned on the inside first. Bleach and Sanitizer sprayed everywhere, and shampooed, before asking anyone else to fly in it.”

“But does Melania get to keep the 727?” Another said, “Turns out Melania refuses to sleep in Kristi and Corey’s bed. She was offered a replacement bed, but she wants a replacement plane,” another user asked, referring to Melania Trump using the jet to fly between New York and Washington, D.C.

Although Noem and Lewandowski have repeatedly denied the affair allegations, it looks like the internet is not yet ready to put the speculations to rest.
