President Donald Trump reportedly had a heated exchange on the phone with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over Israel’s continued strikes in Lebanon on Monday. According to reports, the POTUS was angry after Iran threatened to jeopardize the ongoing peace talks to end the Middle East conflict. In a fit of anger, Trump reportedly slammed Netanyahu and accused him of ingratitude.
According to Axios, a U.S. official shared that Donald Trump warned Netanyahu that his threats to strike the Lebanese capital could leave Israel increasingly isolated on the international stage. Two of the sources also stated that the president pointed out his help in keeping Israel’s Prime Minister out of jail, referencing his support during a corruption trial against him.

The source summarized Trump’s conversation with Netanyahu, stating, “You’re f–king crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your a–. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this.” Another source also divulged that Trump was “pissed” and at one point shouted at Netanyahu, asking, “What the f–k are you doing?”
The report suggests that before the call, Trump was aware that Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed armed group, had been shooting Israel and that Tel Aviv needed to defend itself. However, the source claimed that Trump, in recent days, felt that Netanyahu excessively escalated the war.
Another U.S. official quoted by the publication stated that Trump was worried, noting that Israel had killed numerous civilians in Lebanon, while reportedly criticizing Israeli operations that involved destroying entire buildings to target a single Hezbollah commander.
Both political leaders are said to have had serious calls in the past, closely coordinating on Iran and other issues. Even so, this is said to be Trump’s “worst call” with Netanyahu since he returned to office. Meanwhile, both leaders reacted on their respective social media handles after the call. The 79-year-old U.S. president posted on his Truth Social, assuring that “Talks are continuing, at a rapid pace, with the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Meanwhile, Netanyahu stated, “Tonight, I spoke with President Trump and told him that if Hezbollah does not cease attacking our cities and citizens—Israel will attack terror targets in Beirut. This stance of ours remains unchanged. In parallel, the IDF will continue to operate as planned in southern Lebanon.”
Prior to this, the Israeli Prime Minister had declared on X that following repeated ceasefire violations by Hezbollah against them, he had ordered the IDF, in coordination with Defense Minister Israel Katz, to strike terrorist targets in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut.
According to The Independent, shortly after Trump’s statement,Israel reported detecting missile launches from Lebanon and issued shelter warnings for residents in parts of northern Israel. At the same time, Israeli and Lebanese officials were set to hold talks in Washington, with Lebanon hoping to expand the list of protected areas as part of efforts to secure a full ceasefire.
