Former President Joe Biden stirred the internet with his recent appearance at his wife Jill Biden’s debut book talk on Tuesday. One of the moments that now has everyone talking occurred after Biden reportedly launched back-to-back questions that reportedly left his wife in an awkward situation. The event held in New York City was moderated by comedian and co-host of The View, Whoopi Goldberg.
According to The New York Post, during her book talk, Jill Biden was taking part in a Q&A session about her new book “A View from the East Wing,” when her husband, Joe Biden, jumped in to steal the spotlight. The host recognized a comment from an audience member thanking Biden for his years of public service, prompting his wife to give a standing ovation. In response, the former president stood up from his seat in the audience and walked toward the stage without a microphone.

Much to Jill’s surprise, he began his unplanned speech without a mic, stating, “I have a question,” while security guards surrounded him. Visibly taken aback, Jill replied, “Joe has a question, like you couldn’t ask it later?” Nevertheless, the 83-year-old remained undeterred and went ahead with his question as he asked, “Who do you love most in the whole world?”
Adding a humorous touch to her retort, Jill named Whoopi, leaving the audience in splits. As the host intended to speak, Biden remained standing and confronted his wife with a blank face. The former FLOTUS eventually said, “I love you most, Joe. Was that it? Was that the answer he wanted?”

It seemed like the interaction was supposed to extend a little longer as the 46th president asked if it was “overwhelming” for his wife. His remarks without a microphone were barely audible. Yet, Jill joked that keeping her husband a little uncertain is part of what keeps things interesting. She added that he is never completely sure what to expect, because she likes to keep him guessing.
“Is that not true?” Jill said while the former president dropped his gaze and made a cross sign. Meanwhile, the host attempted to intervene and end the awkward moment by wrapping up the event. The Post report suggests that Goldberg urged the audience to purchase her new book. Meanwhile, Biden remained standing and pointed a finger as the closing music began.
“My book…,” Joe Biden chimed in before a crew member handed him a microphone from backstage. “My book, which comes out in September, read it…” Jill jokingly asked if she had to remind him that it was her event. “The only thing that Jill does better than write, she’s a beautiful woman,” Biden declared before the event finally concluded.
Several inside pictures and videos from the event surfaced online, where internet users couldn’t stop reminiscing and hailing his presidency. A section of users also praised him for showing up to support his wife. “As he’s always said…. she’s the love of his life and the life of his love,” one of the many comments read.
