Donald Trump’s latest comment on the Iran war has the internet scratching its head and questioning what the president is even trying to do. Donald Trump recently made a post on his platform, Truth Social, calling out the “fake news” that, according to him, has claimed that the Republic of Iran and the U.S. have stopped speaking.

“The conversations between us have been going on continuously, including four days ago, three days ago, two days ago, one day ago, and today,” the 79-year-old wrote. “Where they lead, one never knows, but as I told Iran, ‘It’s time, one way or another, for you to make a Deal. You’ve been doing this for 47 years, and it cannot be allowed to go on any longer!”

With a ceasefire between Iran and the U.S. now nearing a two-month mark, there are talks of an agreement coming into place. However, reports claim that the ceasefire is on “life support” and may fall apart at any time soon. The Iran war has reached its 95-day mark, with the U.S. carrying out “self-defence” strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island.

According to Al Jazeera, the escalation has spilled over to neighboring countries, with Kuwait now being a part of the conflict. The country’s news agencies have reported that Iranian missiles and drones hit the Kuwait international airport, leading to the shutdown of all flights. It has been reported that the attack has caused “severe damage” to Kuwait airport’s T1 building.

At the same time, Israel has intensified its attacks on Lebanon. Al Jazeera’s on-field journalists have reported that this has led to a “halt in the exchange of messaging between the U.S. and Iran,” however, the 79-year-old claims otherwise. The publication has reported that Iran wishes to end the war “on all fronts” but not without “tangible verification.”

At the same time, the internet is criticizing the President for his Truth Social post. “Trump just claimed that Iran was desperate to make a deal, now he’s begging them to do so,” one user wrote on X. “He’s incompetent, as even the MAGAs can see. Everything Trump touches turns to s–t.”

Another added, “Trump lashed out at Benjamin Netanyahu over Lebanon! Trump is unstable, Iran is putting the war inside Lebanon at the center of the negotiations, and Netanyahu is acting like Trump doesn’t exist. Trump can’t get Netanyahu to fall in line; he has no power anymore!” Over the years, there have been various reports of rising tensions between Trump and Netanyahu. However, insiders claim that at the end of the day, U.S. policy always favours Israeli interests.

Isabelle Hayslip, an advocacy manager at the US-based rights group DAWN, spoke on the matter. “Single-source reporting of Trump as a strongman who picks up the phone and yells at Netanyahu for undermining US policy is contradicted by the actual policy outcomes where Netanyahu gets exactly what he wants,” Hayslip revealed.
