A former political aide for a Democrat is suing a popular right-wing personality and a former Qanon organizer for catfishing him on a dating app and posting private information online. Rob Field was a former top aide for Democratic New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy. Field met Leah Andrews on the dating app, Bumble. The two instantly hit it off, talking about “homebaked peanut-butter cookies” and football games. For their first winter date, Field even purchased a coat for Leah when she arrived without one.
However, Field later discovered that everything was a sham and that his “forever person” was actually Alysia Gamble. Gamble was using the name Leah as a front to obtain information from Field and later post it online. According to Politico’s report, five months after the two met, Field found recordings of his observations on Republicans and Democrats posted online by conservative influencer Steven Crowder. Field and Gamble talked about politics for hours on end and had an “affinity for left-wing politics,” or so Field thought.
New from me: He swiped right. She was recording everything.
In December 2024, Rob Field, then a top aide to Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy of New Jersey, met a woman on Bumble. Over five months of texting, dates and calls, he came to believe that the woman who identified herself as… pic.twitter.com/BXeKe4eJzM

Research later revealed that Alysia Gamble was actually married with five kids. That said, Politico has revealed that Gamble has duped men similarly in the past, with their voice recordings being posted by Crowder’s organization later. However, this time around, Rob Field was ready to make matters serious. “I invested a lot of my time, my emotions, my financial resources, into a five-month relationship — and got my heart stomped on,” Field said. “I thought to myself, could she be the one? And so I was really hoping that she would — that she was.”
Gamble posed to have left-wing values in conversations to entice Field. The two would spend hours together on dates as Gamble would use the opportunity to grill the Democrat aide for questions. “What was his work in the governor’s office like, and what did he think of the bills Murphy had signed, like that ban on plastic bags?” were some of the questions Gamble asked.
Gamble would state that she goes “out of her way” to take care of “unauthorized immigrants in Florida.” “I love that … you are progressive, you have a great heart, are super empathetic, and you care deeply about others!” Field wrote in her birthday card. “That indeed makes you the rarest of them all, and I’m so happy to have you in my life.” He even gifted her a $223 vintage messenger bag from My Chemical Romance, one of “Leah’s” favourite bands.
What's really remarkable is just how little this activist and Steven Crowder got for all this emotional manipulation. Hours of footage to go through, and the few minutes they picked out were banal. Was it really worth messing up someone's life? https://t.co/LqdE1OK9pY

Months after the two began dating, Fields got a call from Bernards Township Mayor Janice Fields. The mayor informed Fields of the video posted online of him criticizing Democrats, claiming they “overperform in early voting.” He even called the plastic ban “inconvenient,” which the internet had a field day with.
“I just thought to myself, ‘What the hell did I get myself into?’” Field said. “And at that time, I realized that ‘Leah’ was an undercover MAGA operative.” Field has since then left the government after Murphy’s term ended in January 2026. He has now filed a lawsuit against Gamble and Crowder for “fraud, violating his privacy, and intentionally causing him emotional distress.”
