Just as a Democratic Senate victory appeared within reach for Graham Platner, allegations of se—lly explicit online behavior have emerged, casting a shadow over his campaign. The former political director for Platner’s campaign, Genevieve McDonald, told the New York Times the details of Graham Platner’s behavior. According to McDonald, Platner’s wife, Amy Gertner, had revealed the private details before her husband’s campaign began.

Gertner claims that she revealed the incriminating details to the campaign manager to protect her husband’s image. However, since then, Gertner has revealed that she felt “betrayed” by McDonald revealing her husband’s details. She has called the leak an “invasion of our privacy.”

“I confided deeply personal details about my marriage to someone I considered a friend,” Gertner said in a campaign statement. “I trusted this person with the most private chapter of our lives — the early days of our marriage, before any campaign was on our mind. Our marriage today is stronger than ever before. I know the man I married and the husband. He has been with me on the best and the worst days of my life. That hasn’t changed, and it won’t.”

That said, Graham Platner’s Kik account has also been discovered online, where a picture of the Democrat exposing the tattoos on his torso was seen. Gertner revealed that she was aware of the account and discovered that her husband was se–ing “at least 12 women.” Gertner had revealed the details because she had considered the matter a political liability and wanted McDonald to take care of it.

This is not the first time that Platner has come under fire for stirring controversy. A CNN report discovered Platner’s old Reddit account, which carried details of him calling himself a “communist” and labelling “all cops” as “bas–rds.” According to the publication, Graham Platner also claimed in one such post that all rural white Americans are racist and stupid. Platner’s left-wing and anti-establishment views were grilled by the MAGA, who called for actions to be taken against the Democrat.

However, Graham Platner cleared the matter in a conversation with CNN.  “That was very much me f**king around the internet,” Platner said, “I don’t want people to see me for who I was in my worst Internet comment – or even frankly who I was in my best Internet comment … I don’t think any of that is indicative of who I am today, really.”

Cory Booker, the U.S. senator from New Jersey who is a high-profile Democrat, has revealed his thoughts on the news. “Yes, I have concerns,” Booker said, addressing the matter. “That guy has questions to answer – and that’s what campaigns are for.” Booker further stated that a lot is riding on the Democrats to “take control of Congress from Republicans.” Booker took a dig at Donald Trump, stating: “If we do not get the votes necessary to take care of the House and the Senate, we will continue to have an out-of-control president.”
