An attempted armed robbery turned fatal after gunfire erupted in a Miami Gardens neighborhood in Florida on Thursday. What began as a targeted robbery of a food delivery driver escalated into a deadly confrontation after the driver fought back, resulting in a fatal shooting.
The incident resulted in the death of an alleged suspect while another remains at large, a source close to the investigation confirmed.
According to witnesses, around 2 p.m. that day, a series of gunfire interrupted the quiet of a Miami Gardens neighborhood near Northwest 35th Avenue and Northwest 203rd Street. Officers arrived to find an adult man on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound to the face.
Cell phone footage from the scene showed a wounded man lying on the ground, wearing a pulled-up black ski mask, as first responders worked the scene. The individual was struggling to breathe at the time.
Meanwhile, another man was seen pacing nearby while talking on the phone with emergency dispatchers, identifying himself as the delivery driver who had just shot an attacker. The operator confirmed that he had called 911 reporting that he fought back after the robbers tried to take his money.
According to the police, the shooter reportedly stayed at the scene and was detained by officers without incident. The weapon was also retrieved.

Few residents of the neighborhood sided with the driver for standing up for himself. “He has the right to defend himself. Everybody has the right to defend themselves,” one senior resident noted.
After firing the gunshots, the driver approached neighbors, looking for video clips to support the timeline of how the shooting occurred.
“He was asking if we had any footage to show that it was self-defense because he was explaining to us what happened…He said he was actively being robbed, but he had a concealed carry,” one witness said in a conversation with CBS News.
The wounded suspect was airlifted to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Miami Gardens police confirmed the second suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
Aerial footage from the scene showed the area marked off with evidence markers, with a vehicle left with its driver’s side door open and several items scattered on the ground nearby.
Residents expressed shock over the violence, noting that the neighborhood had been quiet for years. “…very shocking cause we’ve been living here for 5 years, and this is the first time something like this happens,” one witness noted.
Public reaction online was in support of the driver. Many social media users argued the shooting was a clear act of self-defense.
“He’s NOT a possible suspect. He’s a deceased perp,” a netizen pointed out.
Another added, “People are sick and tired of people robbing and hurting and killing people innocence are doing their job instead of cops.”
“I don’t promote violence, but enough is enough. We must protect ourselves from these damn criminals,” a separate comment read.
A fourth user wrote, “Excellent work by the delivery driver! No 40 years of food and housing for a career criminal.”
