Philadelphia police are looking for a 26-year-old man involved in a home invasion in Kensington.

Lee Johnson not only stole items from the home on the 2200 block of East Somerset Street on June 4, 2026, but also s*xually assaulted the 18-year-old woman while she was sleeping at around 5 a.m.

The detectives are still investigating the case while the mother and daughter, who are victims of the home invasion, are living in fear.

The woman told ABC6, “First I felt the covers coming off of me; I’m just thinking it’s me moving in my sleep.” Soon she realized a man was touching her. “I felt somebody touching me inappropriately down there. I couldn’t even open my eyes all the way. I just saw him at the bottom of the bed.”

When the suspect realized the woman was awake, he got on top of her and tried to cover her mouth with his hand to prevent her from screaming. “Once he realized I was fighting back, he just jumped right off me,” she recalled.

She managed to scream once, and her mother heard it. She came running from the other room and saw her daughter was trying to fight the man who was on top of her. The mother told ABC6, “When I heard her say, ‘somebody in here,’ I immediately jumped up. When I jumped up, I saw him running up the steps and running out my back door.”

Johnson got off of her and left their home from the rear entrance. The family thought that Johnson may have known someone in the building since he had access to the apartment complex. Johnson stole several belongings, including a purse and cellphones from their home. The victim’s mother added, “This whole experience has been traumatic. Nobody can sleep at night. We sleep together. We don’t want to be home.”

Police have released Johnson’s photo and described him as a Black man with a tall and slender frame. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt with white letters on the back, black pants, and a red shirt. They suspect he is connected to other break-ins in Northeast Philadelphia and s*xual assaults. According to court records, he was paroled in June 2025 on dr*gs charges.

The police department has urged residents to contact them if they have any information regarding the accused. People can reach out to them anonymously by calling the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3251 or texting at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
