President Donald Trump has often launched scathing retorts at CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins in the Oval Office. In a similar instance, the president most recently told the journalist to be “ashamed” of once being a “conservative.” The remarks soon started doing the rounds on the internet, with netizens digging into Collins’ past conservative journalism at Fox News.

According to the New York Post, Kaitlan Collins inquired about the status of the Justice Department’s $1.8 B “anti-weaponization fund” from the president after Republicans criticized it on Capitol Hill. In response to this, Trump was quick to admit being unaware of it and that he would have to ask his lawyers about it.

However, he stated that one thing he believes is that the anti-weaponization fund is a “beautiful thing” and heard that it was the “greatest thing.” He explained his point by accusing the media of mistreating his supporters. When the journalist attempted to interject, the president muzzled her, stating, “Be quiet … you should be ashamed of yourself. Soon after the exchange from June 3 surfaced on the internet, social media users started digging into the 34-year-old journalist’s old news clips while she was with Fox News. In one of her 2015 clips, she was seen talking about immigration issues at the time. She was also seen slamming left-wing investor George Soros, whom she claimed: “essentially wants to change the nature of our country.” She claimed that he viewed the immigration crisis as a platform to promote his objectives.

The difference in Collins’ current and past political views is quite evident from the clip, as she now openly criticizes the Trump administration while working for CNN. Influenced by the video, several internet users also criticized Collins for her biased journalism.

A user said, “@kaitlancollins – Please walk down memory lane by watching the above video report. What happened to you?” Another user said, “Yeah, what happened to her? I think she’s just a mercenary. Will say whatever her check-signer wants her to say.”

A third user commented, “@kaitlancollins back when you did non biased journalism. Just reported on facts and not agenda-based talking points. You’d never be allowed to say these things on @CNN also George soros one of the largest donor for Dems. They follow his demands: open borders and chaos.”

Additionally, Trump also slammed CNN over “false reporting” and noted that the outlet had new ownership and expected a change in its style of reporting. “I doubt it. It’s hard to straighten garbage out,” he added. The journalist didn’t react to any of the president’s criticism apart from saying that she is “still from Alabama,” with a sweet laugh.

The POTUS also called CNN “crooked as hell” and said that it is a “very corrupt organization”, while also branding Collins as a “corrupt reporter.” Trump remarked that despite being a young, beautiful woman, she never smiles and claimed that she stood there with “hatred in her eyes.”
