Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s (RFK Jr.) daughter-in-law, Amaryllis Fox Kennedy, resigned from her position as a deputy director of national intelligence in the Trump administration last month. She revealed that she was “increasingly frustrated” over inadequate accountability in the intelligence community’s use of public funds, including expenditures on gold bullion. Serving as the senior official in the administration, she was also on the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Amaryllis Fox Kennedy reflected on her decision and said, “I couldn’t keep signing the checks. I would have become complicit.”

While she had publicly announced her decision to step down from her role, citing family reasons, last month, it is only now that the actual reasons are coming to light. She remarked that the country is not living as per the constitutional republic, the way its founders originally envisioned, without effective oversight of the intelligence community’s spending of money and gold.

Though she refrained from divulging much about the illicit activities within the administration, citing ongoing national security concerns, she stated that some of the intelligence activities were “brilliant, courageous, and everything an American would be proud to fund.” However, she claimed that some other activities were “broken and corrupt and resulted in domestic political activities that no American would condone.”

The former CIA official stated that she decided to step down from her role after it became evident that certain intelligence agencies were avoiding elected leaders.

Meanwhile, there were certain reports suggesting that Fox Kennedy’s disagreements with President Donald Trump resulted in her resignation. However, she refuted the claims and insisted that the POTUS was “future-proofing” against a prolonged war with Iran while appreciating him for preventing a larger conflict even before its escalation; avoiding significant loss of life and deployment of ground troops.

She stated that she resigned from the role over her inability to fully address individuals within intelligence agencies who she claimed were using covert resources to influence political outcomes.

On the other hand, the CIA denied Kennedy’s accusations and called them “totally false.” In an official statement, a CIA spokeswoman stated that the agency keeps its oversight committees “fully and currently informed” about the agency’s resources and expenditures. She also stated that an agency investigation headed by CIA Director John Ratcliffe exposed decades-long fraud and misconduct across U.S. government agencies and departments that also led to an arrest by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, referring to the Rush case.

For the unversed, a senior CIA official, David Rush, was taken into custody by the FBI after he was found to have more than 300 gold bars, worth $40 million, hidden at his Ashburn, Virginia home.

Responding to the CIA’s statement, Fox Kennedy told the publication that Ratcliffe, former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte “are doing the Lord’s work.” She believed that the alleged misuse of their respective agencies began before they took office and remarked that their great legacy will be to help end it.
