A road rage video that features a white motorist screaming death threats at a Black mother and her toddler on a North Carolina freeway has gained traction on social media platforms. The video evidence has led to the arrest of the 48-year-old Christopher John Walters.
Myeka Dunn, who was riding with the three-year-old, said that the confrontation began when Walters cut Dunn off and nearly collided with her vehicle. When she honked, Walters slammed on his brakes and repeated the dangerous maneuver a second time.
Dunn began recording the road rage on her phone as the situation escalated. In the viral footage, Walters can be seen violently pointing his finger at Dunn and repeatedly screaming “You will die” and “I can kill you” at Dunn while her toddler sat in the vehicle.

According to Dunn, she called 911 during the encounter and informed dispatchers she had video evidence of the death threats. The department initially took a casual approach and issued a public warning and promised to dispatch a unit.
“The Greensboro Police Department is aware of viral videos of a road rage incident on Interstate 85 that was initially reported to Guilford Metro 911 at 4:33 p.m. July 31. At that time, a BOLO (be on the lookout) was issued for a dark blue sedan that was swerving in and out of lanes, stating the driver was yelling at other drivers. Our agency has spoken with the victim, who obtained the videos and a detailed report is now on file,” the department’s August 5 statement said.
However, Dunn said that when she followed up later that day, police informed her that due to officers not witnessing it firsthand, they couldn’t do anything.
“The suspect in this incident has been identified, and the victim has been advised how to obtain a warrant on a misdemeanor charge from the Magistrate’s Office due to the incident occurring outside the presence of officers.”

After hitting a dead end with law enforcement, Dunn turned to the public and posted it on social media. Netizens criticized the police for not taking any swift action despite him threatening Dunn on camera.
“He made a terroristic threat and weaponized his car against her in the process. She had proof. He’s probably kin to someone in the dept, or they know him and are covering for him. Good ol’ boys,” one commentator on Facebook wrote.
Another added, “You can clearly hear him yelling and threatening her and there is no justification for communicating threats? I’m sorry but that’s BS!! I’ve known people be arrested for that exact charge with no evidence or video. If things must be done in front of an officer, then no one would ever be charged with anything.”
“That’s crazy they have to do the work for y’all when you can see what happened on video and maybe even flock cameras. This is why people don’t trust the police along with the obvious,” read a third comment.
After the confrontation drew tens of thousands of views and the initial response from the police prompted severe public backlash, the Greensboro Police Department filed criminal charges against Walters.
“Christopher John Walters, 48, of High Point, was charged today with communicating threats, a misdemeanor, for an incident that occurred July 31. On that date, Walters appears to have made multiple verbal threats to a Greensboro woman that “she could die” and that he “will kill her,” according to the warrant,” the PD said in a statement.
“The Greensboro Police Department has her report on file. A detective with GPD’s Crimes Against Persons squad met the complainant at the High Point jail to offer any assistance as she sought a warrant against Walters, who was in jail on an unrelated charge.”
As the investigators dug deep, they found that Walter had a history of acting hostile toward females. He also faces assault charges for a separate incident. In addition to his recent road rage charges, he was arrested Thursday for assaulting a female.
According to an arrest warrant obtained by the High Point woman, Walters allegedly shoved her into a dresser during an Aug. 1 altercation, which left a visible bruise on her arm.
