President Donald Trump’s decision to declare war on Iran has divided opinion, with critics and supporters offering competing claims. Though JD Vance has always backed the President, he reportedly had his fair share of doubts when Trump declared war on Iran. However, Trump clarified that they are on the same page.
During a press conference (via ABC News) in Florida, the president was asked if he and Vance were having disagreements about the military strikes against Iran. Trump answered that he does not think that they have a problem. He clarified that the two have gotten along very well in this situation. The President said,
“He was, I would say, philosophically a little bit different than me. I think he was maybe less enthusiastic about going, but he was quite enthusiastic.”
He continued that he felt that they had no other choice but to commence a military operation in Iran. Donald Trump claimed Iran would have attacked the U.S. if it had not struck first. The President’s comments were referring to the Vice President’s conflicting comments about the United States’ military operations in Tehran.

In a separate report from ABC News, an anonymous source came forward following last week’s strikes. The source said Vance initially had concerns about the attacks. However, once the decision to continue the attacks was made clear, he shifted his focus to minimizing American casualties.
The vice president also supported a strike, fearing that delays could lead to a leak of the plans. This would have led to the potential of Iran launching an all-out attack against the US troops in the Middle East region.
JD Vance’s concern for military operations in Tehran was evident, as he himself is a Marine Corps veteran and had served in Iraq. In a separate report from the New York Times, an unnamed U.S. official stated that an investigation into the strike at the elementary school was a targeting mistake by the US military planners.
However, this mistake cost the lives of at least 175 people, the majority of them being children. The incomplete inquiry report said a U.S. Central Command official prepared the strike plan based on ‘obsolete data’ provided to them by the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Despite reports linking the strike to U.S. planners, Trump blamed Iran. The POTUS asserted that the strike was carried out by Tehran. Pete Hegseth, who was standing beside him, added that they are “very inaccurate” with their weapons. He said Iran’s lack of accuracy could explain the strike on the elementary school.
With that being said, the Defense Secretary now claims that the U.S. is winning the war against the Middle Eastern country. However, it might backfire on them because severe consequences await the US economy once the war concludes.
