A Texas school district withdrew a job offer after a man’s racist text message went viral on social media, sparking widespread backlash. The Commerce School District had offered the position of director of operations to a candidate named Sam Day. However, the offer was later canceled after screenshots of messages circulated on X showing Day making derogatory racial remarks about Hispanics while talking to someone named “Beau.”

The conversation reportedly began with a joke about a former school crush. Day replied with a comment about immigration and Hispanic people. “Man, Hispanics everywhere! Every other name is Mexican! We are being overrun! ICE needs to raid this graduation!” he wrote.

Day made those remarks about ICE, referring to Donald Trump’s mass deportation policies under which thousands have been arrested, detained and deported since early 2025.

After the screenshots went viral, Commerce ISD confirmed its decision to withdraw the job offer in an official Facebook statement.”We remain committed to protecting the safety, dignity and respect of every student, staff member and family we serve,” one part of the statement read.

Local reports, including WFAA, noted that Sam Day worked in multiple North Texas school districts. He most recently served as Director of Transportation and Grounds at Caddo Mills ISD. Several users on X had mixed reactions to the news. Some highlighted Texas’s diverse population, noting the state is nearly 40 percent Hispanic. Many applauded ISD’s decision to revoke the job offer after the insulting remarks.

“This guy needs to be arrested for harassment, verbal abuse and hate speech!!” one user wrote. “The United States of America, a country full of stupid, racist, and eternally ignorant people,” another wrote. “This is why white racists stick with Trump. Racism,” a third one added.

“Dude lives in Texas and does not know that Hispanics are already the largest ethnic group in Texas at 40.5 percent!” a last one added. In a similar case involving two school students, a video from September 2025 caused widespread outrage. It allegedly showed a young Black schoolgirl being physically attacked by a white male student on a school bus during the day.

The footage went viral and was reshared by several users online. It showed the boy repeatedly punching the girl before grabbing her and pulling her by her braids.

At one point in the clip, the boy is seen pressing his hand against her forehead and pushing her downward while she cries and pleads for him to stop. According to Atlanta Black Star, no adults or school authorities stepped in during the fight, including the bus driver. This footage made many online users question student safety at the school and how the situation escalated without immediate action.

The incident reportedly took place at Carver Middle School in Chester. School officials later stated the fight occurred over the summer and claimed the matter had already been “handled.”However, that response did little to ease public outrage.

“I’m so pissed. As far as I’m concerned, this is not about Black or White. This is a Wrong or Right situation and it’s wrong,” one user wrote. “This is your bus, take control of it,” another said.

“This is a disturbing video; it’s disgusting to watch.” A third commenter questioned how the little girl in the clip appeared calm despite being hit. On Instagram, users continued voicing frustration, with some calling for criminal charges against the boy involved and questioning the school’s handling of the incident.
