President Donald Trump has a habit of criticizing his opponents and predecessors, be it Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.
The 79-year-old, who often goes on unhinged Truth Social rants at night, has yet again targeted former President Obama. In a series of Truth Social posts, Trump heavily criticized Obama’s Iran policy. This comes after he had previously branded these policies as “decaying and rotten.”
Obama made a deal with Iran in his first term that stopped the country from building nuclear weapons. In return, the U.S. removed economic sanctions on Iran that had hurt its economy and returned assets.
In what looks like an AI-generated meme, Trump mocked this Obama-era nuclear deal. On one side of the image is a towering pile of cash labeled as Obama’s deal. On the other side are U.S. warships attacking Iran, labeled as Trump’s deal.
According to Unilad, the pile of cash signifies the assets Obama returned to Iran and the economic sanctions imposed on them.
What Trump essentially wanted to depict was the comparison between two policies, where Obama’s agreement with Iran was seen as giving the country “pallets of cash.” At the same time, Trump’s approach is based on U.S. military strength and direct confrontation.

This is not the first time Trump has criticized Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the nuclear deal signed during Obama’s presidency in 2015. Under the JCPOA, an agreement was signed between Iran and six world powers — the U.S., the U.K., Germany, France, Russia, and China.
The main goal of the deal was to limit Iran’s nuclear program. In exchange, the six world powers lifted economic sanctions and released billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets.
During his first term, Trump pulled the U.S. out of this deal in 2018 and labeled it as “decaying and rotten.”
The timing of the post is extremely fragile, as the U.S. continues to negotiate with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. It is understood that top negotiators from Iran and the U.S. traveled to Qatar the weekend of May 23 to discuss a deal that could potentially end the U.S.-Iran war.
If a deal is finalized, Trump has already decided what would happen to Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, reports The Hill. In a Truth Social post, he wrote:
“The Enriched Uranium (Nuclear Dust!) will either be immediately turned over to the United States to be brought home and destroyed or, preferably, in conjunction and coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran, destroyed in place or, at another acceptable location, with the Atomic Energy Commission, or its equivalent, being witness to this process and event.”

If I make a deal with Iran, it will be a good and proper one, not like the one made by Obama, which gave Iran massive amounts of CASH, and a clear and open path to a Nuclear Weapon. Our deal is the exact opposite, but nobody has seen it, or… pic.twitter.com/JWUiQMVcKS

Meanwhile, the U.S. military launched defensive airstrikes this week in southern Iran. CENTCOM Spokesman Capt. Tim Hawkins said in a statement that U.S. forces attacked only missile sites. He said:
“US forces conducted self-defense strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.
Targets included missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to emplace mines. U.S. Central Command continues to defend our forces while using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire.”
