A man in Winfield, Kansas, killed his wife and their four young children inside their home on Tuesday in a devastating murder-suicide.
New information reveals that a neighbor’s security camera captured the man’s strange behavior days before the tragedy, which may have foreshadowed the horrors.
According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), Ronald Williams Sr., a 53-year-old registered s*x offender, placed a call to 911 on August 11. He confessed to dispatchers that he had murdered his family. He then died by suicide before first responders arrived at the scene.
Officers reportedly heard one gunshot going off as they approached the house.
Inside the Winfield residence, authorities discovered the bodies of his wife, 44-year-old Kelly L. George, and the couple’s four children, including nine-year-old Carol A. Williams, seven-year-old Ronald H. Williams Jr., five-year-old Sarah K. Williams, and the youngest child, three-year-old Kelly M. Magee-Williams. All five had gunshot wounds.
“At approximately 8.50 a.m., August 11, officers with the Winfield Police Department were dispatched to a residence at the 400 block of West 9th Ave. The caller, later identified as Ronald Williams Sr., 53, of Winfield, told dispatch he had killed his family and intended to kill himself,” KBI said in its initial statement.
Father of four called 911 to report that he killed his entire family, before turning the gun on himself in Winfield, Kansas.

“When officers arrived, they heard a single gunshot and began establishing a perimeter. At approximately 10:57 a.m., officers entered the residence and found six subjects with gunshot wounds. EMS arrived and pronounced five victims and Williams Sr. deceased at the scene.”
Authorities investigated further and looked for underlying issues that may have led to the tragedy. They asked the community to share any information that could help with the investigation.
After neighbors shared security footage, it was revealed that the family experienced increasing instability in the days preceding the tragic killings. The neighbors were so concerned that they allegedly called the police several times over the last 18 months.
Official documents reveal that Williams Sr. was a registered sex offender with a history of crimes involving minors. According to KBI, he was convicted in 1998 of attempted indecent liberties with a child, which stemmed from an incident involving a teenage girl.
A neighbor’s Ring doorbell camera recorded Williams Sr. standing outside the house shouting hysterically just three days before he carried out the fatal shootings. He can be seen getting out of a parked vehicle and then pacing back and forth.
With visible signs of distress, he is seen erratically yelling profanities and about someone asking him to kill his cousin for a few minutes.
“You want to kill my cousin Joseph? That’s what it got me set up in mother f***ing county. You’re gonna kill my mother f***ing you. You’re gonna kill my cousin Joseph. Believe that,” he says, adding, “You killed my cousin mother f***ing Joseph and killed my cousin. Did you f*** me a chicken and f***ing.”
Additional security footage captured an alternate angle showing Williams Sr. near his pickup truck while he screamed obscenities. A significantly smaller individual carrying a child soon approaches the vehicle to pack items inside.
Williams Sr. then can be heard repeatedly shouting the phrase, “When we went to Oklahoma,” as the tension escalates outside the residence. The video concludes as the second individual climbs into the passenger side of the truck with the child and aims for the door handle.
