An unsupervised moment turned fatal for a young child in Kansas after the youngster made physical contact with a home appliance and suffered a lethal electric shock, local authorities reported. According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, a four-year-old child has died following a fatal electrocution involving a home appliance. The child reportedly came in contact with a dryer and met its tragic end.

According to the media release from the Sheriff’s office, emergency responders were alerted Thursday night around 9:30 p.m. when the child’s parents called 911. The parents were reportedly frantically driving their unconscious child toward a local hospital. Authorities say the child had been playing inside a residence when it got its hands on a high-voltage dryer and was electrocuted.

“The Allen County Communications Center received the 911 call just after 9:30 p.m. and learned that the parents, with the unconscious child, were driving to Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, where the child was later declared deceased.”
“It was reported that the child had been playing in a residence in the 200 block of North Walnut in Savonburg, and allegedly received an electrical shock from a 220v dryer.”
Despite efforts to save the child, medical personnel pronounced the four-year-old dead at the hospital.
Investigating deputies report that no foul play is suspected, and the incident is currently believed to be nothing more than a “tragic accident.”
