As the American Vice President, JD Vance naturally makes headlines for many reasons. However, not all of those reasons are associated with his political career or his success as a VP; some are related to his fashion choices, and they often fail.
One of the most consistent fashion rumors about Vance is that he wears eyeliners, and while there still seems to be some divided opinions in that regard, there have been other public fashion fails that Vance had gone through.
For instance, very recently at CPAC in February 2025, Vance’s pants rode up as he sat down, and that naturally led to a huge social media trolling. However, besides his fashion fails with his ties and pants, Vance has also been accused of copying the fashion and clothes of politicians like Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Back in 2024, Vance’s outfit matched with the American President Donald Trump’s when they attended the September 11 tribute in New York City. While it was not clear if it was intentional, one thing that is certain is that Trump could not have copied Vance’s choice of clothes.
Intentional or not, Vance’s choice of outfits and its match with Trump’s naturally drew comments on the internet as one user on X posted, “JD Vance wearing exactly the same suit and tie as Trump at the 9/11 memorial. Trump still won’t acknowledge him.” Another one added, “Poor guy trying harder than the Trump’s kids to get noticed.” A third user voiced the same opinion, saying, that Vance is simply a “wannabe mini me.”
While taking inspiration from Trump for his fashion choices is still understandable, Vance outdid himself when he modelled one of his attires on what Volodymyr Zelenskyy had worn during their Oval meet. The Ukrainian President had faced a lot of heat for not wearing a suit for his meeting with Trump.

Vance was also among those who did not take Zelenskyy wearing an all black outfit well. However, on his trip to Greenland with his wife Usha Vance where they visited U.S. Space Force Base, Vance chose to wear an all-black outfit like Zelenskyy. Regarding his choice, one user on X said, “JD Vance’s attempt to cosplay as Zelenskyy is peak US losercore. Truly pathetic.” Another one added, “He went to Greenland and didn’t even have the decency to wear a suit and say thank you.” Another user called him, “Temu Zelensky.”
Vance has not, however, directly addressed these comments about his fashion sense. It now remains to be seen if the American VP can eventually understand what suits him best in terms of fashion and stick to it, without following people and their dressing sense.
