Besides making headlines with his drastic political decisions, American President Donald Trump also frequently grabs media attention because of his makeup choices. While by now it has been established that he relies heavily on makeup, his tan failures and glimpses into his Bronzer free looks show that he needs to get better with whatever he is doing to his face.

Recently, this was even more evident as a close shot of Trump’s face and hands showed the mismatch between the two body parts as his hands appeared to be matching color with his hair. The Instagram story of Fox and Friends showed this shot with Trump’s hands raised in attention. However, given how zoomed in the shot was, the makeup failure was all too evident.

Speculations about Trump’s beauty routine have always been rife. His rarely makeupless pictures, like the one his daughter-in-law Lara Trump had posted on Instagram, only fuel these speculations even more. However, given the kind of discrepancy that his face and hands showed in the Instagram picture, it seems that the rumor about Trump using a tanning machine is not true after all.

Besides his hands, experts have also noticed other body parts of the American President that reveal his real skin color. Talking about the same, Safia Cox, a makeup artist, told Mirror, “If you look closely at his hairline, it’s very pale, and that’s not from sunbeds; he’s slapping some sort of cream product on.” Similar opinions were voiced by  Jason Kelly, in a 2019 interview with The Washington Post.

It is true that without makeup, a number of people show different complexions on their hands and faces. That seems to be the case with Trump as well. Makeup artist Kriss Blevens, who had done Trump’s makeup talked about this to Jimmy Carter, saying, “Because I have done Trump’s makeup several times, I can tell you that, at times, his face looked bronzer than the rest of him, and that was before makeup.”

She also mentioned that she believed this happened because of Trump’s self tanning endeavors. This explains why his hands and face are of different tones as matching the shades of the two body parts can be a tricky thing. While Trump has always been obsessed with using ample amounts of Bronzer, he also did take pride in his natural skin tone as he mentioned during a 2024 campaign rally, saying, “I got the whitest skin ’cause I never have time to go out in the sun.”

He further added, “But I have that beautiful white [skin].” It now remains to be seen if Trump indeed works on his makeup skills to reduce the number of fails or if he finally accepts his natural skin tone and makes appearances like he actually is.
