Zsa Zsa Gabor is fighting for her life after slipping into a coma following this weeks emergency stomach surgery.
The 94-year-old actress was admitted to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on Monday and released after being treated for pneumonia-related symptoms only to be admitted again 24 hours later with a “major infection in her stomach.”
On Tuesday night Zsa Zsa lost consciousness and slipped into a coma while her longtime spokesman John Blanchette released the following statement:
“She’s been in a coma since last night,” while adding, “She had to have emergency surgery after she started bleeding in her stomach due to a feeding tube.”
The actresses recent hospitalization follows a year filled with hospital visits after she broke her hip in July 2010. Since that time she has developed gangrene, lost her leg to an infection from surgery and continued to fight for her life as infections have ravaged her body.
Zsa Zsa’s husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt is said to be by her bedside.
