Are you ready for your “what the hell did I just see?” moment of the day? Dutch artist Bart Jansen created a helicopter out of his dead car Orville, called the “Orvillecopter.
According to the NY Daily News , the “half cat, half machine” was created by Jansen with the help of radio control helicopter expert Arjen Beltman and a taxidermist.
The now deceased cat was named after aviator Orville Wright, and the helicopter, well, it was named after the dead cat.
Jansen said:
“After a period of mourning, he received his propellers posthumously.”
Sky News reports that the Orvillecopter was unveiled at the Kunstrai art festival in Amsterdam over the weekend.
The flying feline turned a lot of heads at the festival but Jansen said he still isn’t satisfied with the helicopter’s performance.
Apparently, felines aren’t as aerodynamic as you might think.
Jansen said:
“He will receive more powerful engines and larger props for his birthday. (Hopefully that will give Orville) a steady flight.”
What do you think of the Orvillecopter? Is this cute or cruel? Art or animal cruelty?
