A traffic investigation in Virginia leads deputies to evidence of an alleged plan targeting a teen’s parent, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. The case began on June 16 when the Stafford County Sheriff’s office responded to reports of reckless driving near Austin Ridge Drive and Cabinet Maker Drive in Stafford County, according to authorities.
Witnesses reported that a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a speed-limit sign before leaving the scene. Deputies later located the vehicle at a Wawa convenience store. Inside the car, deputies detained 19-year-old Louis Conely and an unidentified 17-year-old. Investigators said the pair possessed unopened alcoholic beverages and a tray of food stolen from a nearby Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant. Authorities said the suspects admitted to taking the food.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies searching the car discovered open alcoholic beverages, multiple knives, medical supplies, and a notebook allegedly belonging to Conely. Detectives said the notebook detailed plans to kill members of the juvenile suspect’s family.
“A search of the vehicle actually found that there were opened alcoholic beverages, medical items, multiple knives, as well as a notebook that detailed a murder plot. Our detectives immediately jumped into action and began investigating.”

“Detectives immediately jumped into action and began reviewing all available information,” the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said in an official statement detailing the rapid escalation of the case.
A subsequent charge of the teenager’s bedroom uncovered BB guns, edged weapons, and archery equipment, according to court records cited by a local news outlet.
Conely now faces multiple charges, including two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of felony threats in writing, petit larceny, unlawful purchase of an alcoholic beverage, drinking while operating a motor vehicle, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, hit-and-run, and reckless driving. He is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail, authorities said.
Conely’s parents filed a bail motion in defense of their son. No motive has been officially disclosed, and it’s unclear how Conely and the other teen know each other. However, defending their son, Conely’s parents said, he is:
