Hollywood, CA- The mere memory of the movie Pretty Woman staring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts conjures up fond memories of the two in an inspiring love story that both men and women love. Richard Gere actually doesn’t have such fond memories of the film

While doing press for his upcoming release Armitage, Gere decided to unload about his dislike of the film. He told Australian Women’s Day Magazine that, “It’s my least favorite thing.”

Gere said about the Romantic Comedy,

“People ask me about that movie, but I’ve forgotten it. That was a silly romantic comedy. [‘Arbitrage’] is a much more serious movie that has some real cause and effect.”

You would think that Gere would have stopped there but he went out of his way to even connect the movie with the Wall Street Crowd that brought about the Great Recession.

Gere said of the persona he played in the movie,

“[‘Pretty Woman’] made those guys seem dashing, which was so wrong. Thankfully, today, we are all more skeptical of those guys.”

“Pretty Woman” as an early nineties romantic comedy that starred Richard Gere as Edward Lewis, a high powered corporate raider who preyed on the little guy in order to increase his personal fortune. In the flick he fell in live with a woman named Vivian Ward, played by Julia Roberts , a prostitute that he paid to spend the week with him and pretend to be his girlfriend.

Do you have fond memories of Pretty Woman, or do you agree with Richard Gere that the movie went to far in glorifying corporate raiders?
