If the Xbox.com listing for Resident Evil 6 is to be believed, the latest title in Capcom’s survival horror franchise will feature not just two-player online co-op, but a total of six players.
Additionally, the listing suggests that there will be some other form of multiplayer, and up to 8 players are supported. The listing also says that offline co-op will be supported as well, but only with a maximum of two players.
Co-op was a big part of Resident Evil 5 , so it wouldn’t be at all surprising if Resident Evil 6 followed up and included co-op. In fact, it would be surprising if they didn’t include it. Still, even if this information is direct from the Xbox.com website, it should be taken with a grain of salt until Capcom confirms it or shoots it down.
Assuming that the multiplayer information is accurate, that would be a new addition to the core franchise, whatever it may be. Here’s to hoping it’s multiplayer akin to what we saw in Mercenaries , and not some form of team deathmatch or something.
In other Resident Evil 6 news, the game’s official Twitter account has been steadily releasing snippets of information since Resident Evil 6 ‘s announcement. Here’s what we know so far (via Siliconera):
- The game has been in development for 2 years.
- More information on a demo will be available in the coming months.
- “Tall Oaks” is the site of a new outbreak in Resident Evil 6 , and is populated with 70,000 zombies. [note: Tall Oaks is where Leon’s story takes place. Chris is in China.]
- The zombies are “a bit different to what you may be used to”and are unlike any in past Resident Evil games.
- “There will certainly be a survival horror element to the game, mixed in with classic Resident Evil moments.”
- This one is more obvious, but the control system has been “overhauled” and will feature “a number of new elements”.
