Police detained a woman who was in the passenger seat of a vehicle. The man behind the wheel was driving recklessly at 120mph and was involved in a car chase with the officers. The police put the woman in handcuffs and started to interrogate her. She said, “I don’t care. I like that I’m cooperative. I don’t care what’s going on. I’ve never been in a position like this ever. I don’t even take you guys on. I pulled over.”
The officer told her that she wasn’t arrested but detained. She revealed they had just met on social media, and she didn’t know him that well. They were coming from Perry’s Steakhouse, and on their way, the police vehicle noticed them. The women kept on saying that they didn’t do anything wrong, and the officer was chasing them.
According to the bodycam video, the officer told her, “You’re not in trouble, (She’s detained) just obviously because of what happened.” She said her name was Destiny, and they had planned to go to her home after the date.
However, the man started to speed up as she noted, “He doesn’t listen. You can tell a person to stop, stop, stop. He’s a grown man. He’s not going to listen to me.” She told the officer she was shaking because of the cold and was scared. Moreover, she was clueless about why her date drove so fast.
To prove that they were coming from the restaurant, she told him, “The steak is in my back seat. The steak is fresh. You can see it. But I wasn’t expecting this. I thought we were just going back to my house.
The officers retrieved her ID and purse from the vehicle. They also moved her to a more comfortable vehicle as she was feeling cold. After that, they arrested the man, asking him to lie on the ground with his hands up.
Officers read him his Miranda rights before handcuffing him. He had over $1,200 in his pocket when the officer checked him for illegal possessions. He was charged with reckless driving. They probably prevented an accident from happening as he was driving dangerously.
A high-speed chase led to charges like traffic violation, fleeing from police officers, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving.
