Florida police arrested the father of a 4-year-old in a targeted, preplanned operation conducted in December 2023. Identified as Bernard Rush Jr., he offered money to an undercover officer in exchange for s– services. He added that he would leave his 4-year-old in the backseat of the car while they went to the hotel room. Little did he know he was under a targeted operation while driving on an expired driver’s license and in possession of a m*riju*na grinder during the time of arrest.

After the arrest of the father, the police called the mother of the child, Jalissa, as she was unaware of their whereabouts. He had told her, “I’m trying to understand what’s going on because he said to me they were sitting over by the green chairs watching the water. SO, HOW DID YOU END UP HERE? Is the point I’m trying to get?”

Meanwhile, the police officer narrated the whole story, including how the child, Jacob, ended up there. She had a meltdown as she did not have anyone to help. The officer assured her, “The other thing we can do is whatever we need to do to get you and your son to wherever they need to go. Okay? I need to take a couple of small steps here first, all right?”

She did not even know how to drive and had asked a co-worker to drive her there to meet the police. While the mother was furious and crying, her co-worker helped her calm down so she could assess the next step.

Rush Jr., the father, was arrested for multiple criminal charges like agreeing to secure pr*st*tution, child neglect, and dr*gs object possession. He later posted bail and was released. Meanwhile, the Sarasota Police Department’s homeless outreach team connected with the mother, Julissa, and her son to provide emergency housing and services to offer some stability in their lives.

The bodycam video sparked several reactions from viewers. One viewer wrote in the comments, “I feel so bad for the wife because she clearly feels stuck in the situation she’s in. I hope she’s able to get her son and herself back to NY and into a better place.”

Another viewer commented, “He’s the worst of the worst; they don’t change. Make a better life for you and your baby.” One more added, “I feel sorry for that baby.” Another viewer appreciated the police officer, “He tried to be as calm and compassionate as possible. If only the mother cared as much for the kid as the detective did.”
