Folk music legends Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie have become the latest famous names to join the Occupy Wall Street demonstrators.

On Friday, the pair met up with demonstrators at Symphony Space arts center and marched with them to Columbus Circle in Manhattan, over thirty blocks away.

The 92-year-old Seeger met protestors with his grandson, musician Tao Rodriguez Seeger, and used a pair of canes as he marched with the throngs through New York City’s tony Upper West Side.

The activist musician then sang a series of acoustic numbers to a crowd of nearly 1,000 demonstrators, before he was joined by Guthrie for a round of “We Shall Overcome,” a protest anthem made popular by Seeger.

Seeger has a long history of protest music, with his back catalog including songs about the Spanish Civil War and the Vietnam War. Emphasizing the bipartisan nature of the protests, Guthrie is a registered Republican.

The Occupy Wall Street protests are now 37 days old, and a recent Associated Press-GfK poll revealed they were supported by more than one-third of the country. 58 percent of U.S. citizens, recorded the poll, are ‘furious’ about America’s politics.

Copycat protests have now spread to over 500 cities across the globe … and even some not quite of this world .
