Ohio police responded to a 911 call on November 4, 2024, from a father reporting his four-month-old baby was injured and was having trouble breathing after falling from a changing table. Identified as Andrew Kammerer, the father appeared to have a meltdown when the Goshen Township police arrived, telling them he was administering CPR on her.

The baby, later identified as Evelyn, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. An autopsy concluded her injuries were inconsistent with the story the father had told police. He and the mother of twins were caring for premature babies, and Evelyn’s surviving sister was still in the hospital, having suffered serious injuries of her own.

The police officers were interrogating Kammerer and trying to find out how the fall happened. He described trying to soothe a fussy baby: “She’s fussing, and she’s like, and she’s I so I’m trying to soothe her obviously. I’m trying to make her happy, right? So I picked her up, and I brought her here just so I could change her diaper and everything like that again and just went through the steps, right?”

After Evelyn’s death, the police had her surviving twin examined by a doctor, who said she survived multiple rib fractures that had never been previously reported. Officers noticed a pattern of abuse involving the twins. Kammerer admitted that caring for premature twins alone was difficult. The officer also asked whether he had anger issues or conflicts with his partner.

Despite Kammerer’s portrayal of himself as a selfless and doting parent to his babies, officers determined that he was lying about the fall and the girls’ injuries. Police took Kammerer into custody two days after Evelyn’s death and initially faced 10 charges, including aggravated murder and child endangerment. In July 2025, he pleaded guilty in court to reduced charges of involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and obstructing justice. In September of the same year, Clermont County Common Pleas Judge Kevin Miles sentenced him to 19 to 24.5 years in prison. The twins’ mother, identified as Danielle Rheude, was also indicted on charges of complicity to murder and child endangerment. Later, pleading guilty to child endangering counts, she was sentenced at the same hearing to at least five years in prison.

The bodycam video has over 22k views on YouTube, with viewers slamming Kammerer for pretending to have a meltdown while the babies were repeatedly being injured. One viewer commented, “I was more distraught when I clipped my cat’s nail too short and made it bleed than when this guy is over losing his baby.”

Another wrote, “You should be very afraid, you killed your own baby, fool.” Another one pointed out, “Manipulative as hell trying to soften his voice and not a single effing tear SICKENING.” “This monster is pure evil. ” May he get what he deserves,” added a third one.

Another viewer hoped the father gets long prison time, “And the other baby girl had ribs that were healing from being fractured!! He will get what’s coming to him!!” “They always have to have a barking dog,” a netizen slammed the irresponsible dad.
