An Ohio doctor known for her study on “violent and homicidal” adolescents became a victim of her own teenage daughter’s murder plot.
Tamela Dutcher, 55, was shot dead at her Delaware County home on August 14 by her daughter’s boyfriend, Christian Evans, 20, and his roommate, Dajameous Payne, 21. This was a planned murder targeting Dutcher and her husband.
Dutcher was sitting on the couch when Evans and Payne broke into the home around midnight and shot her dead. Her husband heard the gunshot sound and rushed to help her. The two accused also fired a shot at the husband but missed.

The suspects fled the scene, unable to follow through with their plan. Emergency officials responded to a 911 call, during which a second shot was also fired. First responders rushed Dutcher to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to the officials, Dutcher’s daughter, Bryanna Dutcher, 18, had planned this hit on her parents with her boyfriend and his roommate after she argued with her mother over chores. She was supposed to help out with the chores earlier that day.
According to a police affidavit obtained by Oxygen, Bryanna was seeing a Black man in secret as her parents were allegedly racist. A text exchange among them showed the gunman gave the idea of the murder and then carried it out. Evans wrote, “If I were you, I would have killed her.”
The two men waited outside the home for 15 minutes, and then the teen daughter replied, “Alr(alright) she’s in the living room, he’s in the basement where you’re here Imk(let me know).” Evans responded, “Take them both out at the same time.”
While the two gunmen have been charged with aggravated murder, Bryanna was charged with obstruction of justice as she repeatedly lied to the police officers about the incident, delaying the identification of the suspects.
Officers spotted Evans dumping a trash bag into a dumpster near his apartment. The bag contained a gun holster and pants. Moreover, his GPS location was found near Dutcher’s home, and he had also texted his father, “had f–ed up.”

All their text conversation implied a planned murder, with some text messages suggesting that once Bryanna’s parents were dead, she “should also get a gun.” The three accused are being held at the Delaware County Jail. Evans’ attorney also filed a “suggestion of incompetency” with a claim that he isn’t fit to stand trial. He requested an evaluation by a professional behind bars.
Tamela Dutcher was a co-author of a January 2002 article titled “The violent and homicidal adolescent. Hearts darkened before time,” published in the International Journal of Adolescent Medicine and Health. The article, co-written with Daniel Davis, shed light on young homicidal males and females.
The article also focused on the impact of race and socioeconomic status of the suspects. The article read, “Roughly one sixth of all Americans under the age of 18 years are African American; in recent years, approximately one half of the youth arrested for homicide are African American.”
