A Michigan nurse who threatened to kill Donald Trump with a knife has been facing online outrage and is now under a Secret Service investigation. A right-wing news network posted a video of Rhonda Lee on X. In the video, Lee can be seen sitting in the car and ranting about Trump. “God, please kill this moth——er. He needs to fu–ng die. I’ve never felt like that about anyone,” Lee can be heard saying in the video. “Given my profession, it’s counterintuitive, but you know what? F–k that guy. He f—ing needs to die.”

The post by Right Angle News Network also showed Lee’s LinkedIn account. The details revealed that Lee had been working as a registered nurse for the University of Michigan Medical Center. However, she has not been employed there since 2023.

Lee further claimed in the video, “I have never been a violent person, but I’m about to drive up there with my god–mn neck knife” and suggested murdering Trump. She was further seen abusing the 79-year-old President and expressing her hate. Lee said, “F–k him. I hate that b–ch.”

The internet was quick to comment on the matter as various MAGA internet sleuths rained down upon Lee. However, the internet wasn’t the only one to take notice, as the Secret Service also issued a statement, announcing an investigation. Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the United States Secret Service, spoke on the matter in a conversation with Fox News. “The U.S. Secret Service continuously monitors information streams to support our protective intelligence mission,” Guglielmi said.

He further stated: “Due to the sensitive nature of this work, we are unable to confirm or comment on specific threat cases. However, anything that could be perceived as a threat to the President or any Secret Service protectee is taken extremely seriously and investigated thoroughly.”  According to the New York Post, Lee’s previous organization is also cooperating with law enforcement to provide more information on her.

“Watching that clip is honestly jarring. Professional boundaries exist for a reason, especially in healthcare, and bringing that kind of volatility into patient care is a massive failure of accountability,” one user wrote on X. It’s unclear which professional boundary the user is referring to since Lee isn’t shown to be on duty in the video. Various other users called for the suspension of the elderly nurse’s license.

As of writing, Donald Trump’s disapproval rating has continued to free-fall. According to The Economist, 59% of Americans disapprove of the president, 34% approve, and 6% are not sure. While Trump’s immigration policies have made him a target in the past, the latest Iran war has further fueled that fire. That said, following the latest assassination attempt on the president’s life, the Secret Service is also taking precautionary steps to avoid such an incident.
