Donald Trump was asked about the stalled negotiations with Iran after Israel struck Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. A CNBC senior Washington correspondent, Eamon Javers, asked the 79-year-old president about the ongoing negotiations being over. Trump replied, “No, they haven’t.”

Javers asked, “Do you think the negotiations are over now, or is this a bluff?” Donald Trump answered, “I don’t care if they’re over, honestly. I really don’t care. I couldn’t care less. If they’re over, they’re over. If they’re not, you know, I think they took too much time. Frankly, I thought they started to get very boring. They were giving us what we needed, but I think they handled the negotiations poorly.”

Earlier in March, Trump claimed that he won’t get bored. “There’s nothing boring about this,” he said, referring to the fact that somebody in the media said he’ll get bored after a week or two.

Trump noted then. “Somebody actually said from the media, ‘I think you’ll get bored after a week or two,’ the President continued. ‘No, we don’t get bored. I never get bored. If I got bored, I wouldn’t be standing here right now, I guarantee it. To go through what I had to go through.”

Javers asked if Iran was stalling, and Trump agreed. He also asked about the Strait of Hormuz, which was blocked due to the conflict. Trump replied that it’s already open, hinting at taking a look at the boats that have passed through it in the last week. He then spoke about the strait’s blockade, “You do know that, you know, boats have been leaving, and we have, and we have the blockade, we blockade them, they blockaded the strait, and then we blockaded them, and our blockade is a lot tougher than their blockade.”

Trump also mentioned NATO should help out, but then added, “Don’t need NATO.” He pointed out that the U.S. has a lot of oil, so it does not even need the Strait, but he is doing it for other countries that are not self-sufficient.

During the interview, Trump mentioned he would speak to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Later, he mentioned the “productive call” in a Truth Social post.

Javers asked Trump if he’s worried about the oil prices, and he replied with a no as he thinks the prices will come down quickly. Trump has maintained his stance on the rise in oil prices, repeatedly claiming that the prices will come down soon. He explained he isn’t worried about the gas prices and said, “The thing I care about most at this point in life is that Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. And if they want to try and have a new nuclear weapon, I will blow them up until kingdom come.”

The war started on February 28; ever since, the Trump administration has been under fire over issues including the cost of war, deaths of U.S. servicemen, and the rise in gas prices.
