A video was leaked from the ICE detention center in Louisiana in which detained men are seen begging for food. They can be heard yelling, “Food! Please, now!” Several men in the detention center seem to be agitated and shout over the food they are being provided. The men sleep on bunk beds, and the video claims there are anywhere from 90 to 110 detainees in a single cell. The video has received nearly 300k views.

The caption of the video noted what one detainee from El Salvador said, “They say ‘food’ because they made us endure hunger with only potato puree.” Another detainee, Victor Nery, said, “I was there! No matter what you do, nobody pays attention to you.”

The video garnered mixed opinions from the netizens, with several of them slamming the people who come to the U.S. illegally. One X user commented, “This video is a really good message, not against ICE, but against being a criminal who entered a country illegally. Honestly, this should be used as a campaign ad: ‘This is what being illegal looks like in America. Still wanna try?”

Another one posted, “They could have self-deported and not been arrested. There was plenty of time. They could have chosen not to break the law entirely and stayed where they were. They did neither.”

Another skeptical user posted, “everyone starts crying for food the second the camera starts, a little fishy.” One more posted, “They should’ve thought about that before illegally crossing the border. We can’t even afford to pay for our own groceries, but these people are demanding food because we owe it to them?”

Some people also pointed out that the detainees go on hunger strikes when they don’t like the food they are provided. In September 2025, four detainees at the Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Camp J went on a hunger strike. Their goal was to get basic items such as clean water, toilet paper, and medical care.

On the other hand, many criticized the Trump administration over the immigrant crackdown. One user wrote, “DJT isn’t deporting them. Instead, he wants the concentration camps owned by his millionaire and billionaire buddies to make ridiculous amounts of money whilst torturing them with starvation & neglect. It’s truly horrific stuff.”

Another one pointed out, “Some major Trump donors are now reaping billions in ICE contracts.” One X user joked, “Look at those muscles. Oh, poor babies are starving. I wish I had that muscle mass; maybe I should starve, too. Opinions on the viral video are mixed. Still, there have been cases where detained immigrants were not given medical attention and stayed in unhygienic rooms.
