Illinois police bodycam showed a domestic dispute involving a complicated relationship triangle escalated into a police standoff and multiple felony charges after a man was hospitalized with severe lacerations from a shattered glass table, authorities said.

DeKalb County Police received a dispatch call about an Illinois man being transported to the hospital after a violent domestic disagreement. The victim, a man, was banished from the house by his wife and had come to his stepfather’s house with his pregnant side girlfriend, Shelby Walker, and their six-month-old baby.

It is when, after drinking heavily, Walker “raised hell” by smashing a bottle and breaking the glass table during the altercation. The stepfather reported that he had to flee with the six-month-old infant into the night.

“They raised so much hell yesterday. I just couldn’t take it no more. I left.”

The full scope of the love triangle converged at the emergency room, with police being officially pulled into the toxic love triangle. After the violent incident, it was the Illinois victim’s wife who called the police when she learned her hospitalized husband had been attacked by his side girlfriend.

Detectives arriving at the hospital found the battered husband, who was flanked by his wife, covered in cuts and bruises. Officers convinced a judge to “sign off an official warrant out of Yansy County for Walker’s arrest.” Thereafter, the police officers located Walker the same day, sitting in the back of a parked car. She kept refusing to exit the car for over 10 minutes, invoking her 12-week pregnancy and her crying child as reasons she couldn’t comply.

She denied being the car’s registered owner, demanding to speak to the sheriff and insisting officers had not properly identified her.

She stated, “I told you my name and my birthday. He’s saying that he got the person out of his car. That is not me. That’s not my car. I want to talk to your sheriff. I have a lawyer.”

Walker further accused the officers of assaulting her, saying that bodycam footage shows them patiently convincing her to get out the car.

She said, “He snatched me right here. He opened the door and snatched me with my child. Could you please not touch [me]? I don’t have no panties on. I don’t know because I don’t have no dr*gs on and I’m pregnant. 12 weeks pregnant.”

“Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you don’t go to jail.”

DeKalb County Police officers arrested Walker following a 10-minute roadside confrontation where she allegedly used her pregnancy and her toddler to resist being taken into custody. Walker faces charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, obstruction, and cruelty to children.

However, Walker claimed it was self-defense, alleging the Illinois victim of initiating the attack, of child abuse, and pulling up a gun on her when she placed him on child support. This was her way to convince the officers that the victim had a motive for false accusation.

“He done pulled a gun out on my face. He done did all this stuff and he’s just trying to put something on my name because he has — and I put him on child support.”

Nonetheless, the physical injuries that were documented at the hospital supported the aggravated assault charge against Walker more than the self-defense story.
