A woman named Penny appeared on the Dr Phil show and accused her father of her sister’s murder. Dr Phil has been known for handling family drama; however, this case was different as it involved a murder accusation. Her father, Ted, denied being involved in the murder, but Penny had her reasons.

This was the case of a homicide where Shannon Hercutt was killed in 2009. She was killed in a car crash that was labeled a well-planned murder after an investigation. Penny believes that her father committed the crime as he hired someone to kill Shannon and made it look like an accident. On the other hand, the father called her accusations baseless. Dr Phil asked Ted if he knew about Shannon’s will, and he denied that.

Another reason Penny appeared on the show was that she was scared for her life. When the daughter and father came face to face, they got into a loud argument. She told the show host, “I have to get justice for my sister. I knew my mom and sister were with me on that stage and were pushing me to finally come out of my shell.”

She explained that she wanted to tell the world of her father’s involvement in Shannon’s death. She added, “After five years and spilling out everything I know, have seen, and lived through my entire life, I just felt like that was my last hope.” Her father replied, “I don’t know where you are getting your story. I’ve been cleared by the Sheriff’s Department.”

This was true as no case was pursued against Ted, and he faced no charges. Ted further explained that he loved his daughter, so it didn’t make sense that he would have her murdered. Penny told her father, “You’ll probably have me murdered after this.” He replied, “Why would I kill you when I love you? I still love you.” While crying, she screamed back, “You do not love me!” She also added that this was the reason her mom divorced him.

The viewers saw red flags in the father’s behavior. One viewer commented, “If I told my father he never loved me, he wouldn’t be angry, he would be sad and hurt.” The second one pointed out, “There’s no smoke without a fire. Simple. I believe her.” Another one sympathized with the woman, “Awww!! I feel her pain!!! I can only imagine how her childhood was!!!”

One viewer suggested, “Why not have them both take a lie detector test?” They both had conflicting stories of the past events. Another one noted, “Unfortunately, people don’t seem to realize that this man could very well have done exactly what she has said he has. Look at his face. Look at his eyes. I don’t believe him at all.”
