A former Pacific Northwest school administrator is going to spend a prolonged period in prison after federal authorities discovered child se*ual abuse material linked to his internet activities.

50-year-old Jeremy P. Williams, of Longview, Washington, was sentenced on February 23 to five years and one month in prison following his conviction for possessing and distributing explicit images involving children.

What concerned authorities most during the investigation was his background: he had served as principal at Rainier Junior/Senior High School in Rainier, Oregon, since 2022.

Investigators arrested Williams in September last year after social media platforms flagged automated systems detecting explicit child abuse material shared from an internet account traced to Williams. At the time of his arrest, the Rainier School District had already placed him on paid administrative leave over controversial public comments he’d made regarding the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Police bodycam footage captures the moment officers knock on his door as he’s finishing chores around the house. Williams appears confused as the officer informs him he is under arrest, offering him a choice: “…either we can just go ahead and run you down to jail and go about our business. I have a search warrant to go through the house as well. The alternative is you can come back you can have a conversation with me at the office, it’ll give you an opportunity to maybe give your side of it or maybe feel heard. It’s just kind of up to you how you want to play it…”

“Across the last couple of months we’ve received some information through various sources about your online conduct. I’ve had a chance to go through it; one of my counterparts worked for all on VPDES as well; that’s why we’re having this conversation today.”

After speaking to Williams’ wife, officers take him into custody. At the station, the detective tells him that it’s not normal for an individual to be flagged on so many occasions.

“Every time a user does something that gets flagged, it generates one of these reports. Generally, we only get one, two, maybe three of these before we end up having this conversation. I have eight. Like I said, it’s an abnormal number.”

“There is a very large database of known hash values specifically related to something we call CSAM, which is child se*ual abuse material.”

“And so as we go through this process with people and these images get identified, this hash value gets put into this database. And so when one of these DSPs sees one of these known hashes get uploaded or downloaded, it triggers one of these. Then a user with an employee of the company sits down; they review it and ensure that yes, this is actually what happened, and they fire off one of these reports. Sometimes it’s a batch of things, so 10, 20, 30 things get sent; we just get one report.”

The detective further explained that the email address that he used to sign up for these sites led authorities to his house.

“So every piece of data that exists has something called a hash value. It’s a super unique value, can’t be recreated. I think it’s like a million times more unique than your own thumbprint is. And that’s specific to photos and videos, which are the types of content that these ESPs flag.”

Williams said that he was made aware that his credentials were being sent to authorities about a week ago. He admitted to participating in online se*ually explicit “age play” roleplay sessions across platforms like Reddit and Discord. He said he received and often responded by sending explicit videos involving minors.

The former principal said that he never actively sought such content. He came across people on social media platforms who were looking for roleplay exchange. He said he never used his power as a principal to exploit a student.

“Everything’s always been online, and that’s a very important distinction considering the position I’m in. I’ve never done anything with a student at a student. Never used, accessed their information, never done anything like that. It’s all been online.”

He stated that he deleted all downloaded files from his devices shortly after receiving them and insisted he never engaged in any inappropriate physical or digital conduct with students at his school.
