Two Southern California teens lost their lives in a deadly crash when a yellow Chevrolet Camaro and a black Dodge Charger struck them.

Maddalyn Dailey, 17, and Isabell DeLand, 16, were killed in the horrific crash on August 14 at Ridgecrest Road and Elmwood Drive in Victorville. The teens were driving in an Acura and were just a few houses away from Maddalyn’s home.

After the crash, the Acura split into multiple pieces and caught fire. The crash was reported around 8.34 p.m. Both teens were pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics rushed another injured person at the scene to the local hospital.

Terry Lamar Easter, 50, who was allegedly driving the Chevrolet Camaro, fled the scene after the crash, leaving his 11-year-old son inside the vehicle. The authorities added him to the wanted list with a $1 million arrest warrant.

Easter fled the scene on foot, while the other driver remained and cooperated with the authorities. The identity of the driver hasn’t been revealed yet, but he was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.

Meanwhile, the authorities described Easter as armed and dangerous in the arrest warrant. The warrant listed him as a five-foot-six-inch-tall man with hazel eyes and black hair. His mother, Madge Wells, and one of his associates, Ryan Lewis, were also listed in relation to the accident.

Easter was the last to be apprehended and arrested after he turned himself in on Wednesday, August 26, at 14200 Amargosa Road, the location of the Victorville Police Department. He’s being held on a $1 million bail and has been charged with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. He will appear in Victorville Superior Court on Friday, August 28, at 8 a.m.

Victorville families are now mourning the loss of two teen best friends who were killed in the crash. Dustin Dailey, Maddalyn’s father, said goodbye to her after she left for Isabel’s home. She was supposed to come back for dinner.

 

When he heard the loud engine noise, he rushed out to Elmwood Drive and Ridgecrest Road and witnessed the horrific crash. He told The Los Angeles Times, “I saw everything: the ball of fire from the other car that hit it, her car in pieces. They were ejected from it, thrown clear down the road.”

The vehicles that crashed into the Acura were driving at high speed at the time of the crash. Dustin blamed the Ridgecrest Road and mentioned the two-mile stretch as a few protected intersections. He added, “Everybody that lives here knows that road is just a deathtrap.”

He said the road is similar to “playing an old-school Frogger game.” Earlier, he had seen trucks race each other and kids doing wheelies on dirt bikes. He claimed Maddalyn usually took another route as he warned her repeatedly, but the tragedy couldn’t be avoided that night. Moreover, the dip south of Elmwood Drive hides the approaching vehicles.
